Historia
With his Warrior Ceremony approaching, Merrick was sure his greatest wish was about to come true, never expecting he was going to be thrown into a torrent of change that would threaten to sweep away his whole world. Invaders from another world were beginning to creep into his people’s land, intent on devouring every resource they could find, and when Merrick offers to act as a guide for a rich young prospector’s group, he finds he may have bit off more than he can chew.

Narrator has one voice
Revisado: 01-09-24
What ever lightning was bottled for book 1 is gone. Biggest gripe is that while narrarator is clear, clean and easy to understand, it's the same voice for everything. Narration, Mc, side characters, system, all the exact same voice. makes listening difficult, lose focus for a moment and you have no idea who is talking or if anyone at all is talking and its just narration. I like the character, but the pacing, flow and narration make it feel like ben Stein is reading me a cars owners manual. I will not be continuing this series.

there might be an hour worth listening to
Revisado: 09-14-23
Randidly Ghosthound is the least featured character in this book. Chapters 2-75 can be skipped in their entirety with no loss. it is so frustrating having to navigate 32 different povs so you can actually read the story you paid for. I am done with this series, 30 hour audio book for 20 chapters of substance.

too many povs
Revisado: 08-30-23
there are about 30 to many povs in this story. it absolutely destroys all flow. Get invested in a story, get ripped across the planet to witness something else. Get into that story get dragged into another, this happens for the whole book. its infuriating. I skipped most of them after the halfway mark and then reread them after and they in fact add nothing. It's just bad decision making on the authors part and makes it pretty obvious this has not seen an editor and if it has, they should be fired.

Revisado: 08-03-23
I love this series and I cannot think of anything good to say about this book or the last one really. I know how good this series can be but this is honestly 20 hours of hot garbage. it's boring, nothing and I mean nothing even remotely interesting has happened for 2 books. please someone give me a reason to continue this.

Historia
Slip doesn’t buy it, though. The Sci-gods took everything from him. They dropped a bomb that reduced his home to waste, his family to dust, and left him broken with no hope for vengeance. Now he’s just a lone cyborg digging through scraps for his next meal. That changes when a rebel assassin stalks Slip, eager to unlock the untapped potential hidden deep within him—his unique connection to the A.I. in his head. With nothing left to lose, he accepts the invitation to duel for upgrades to his tech, created by the very ones who destroyed his life: the history-obsessed Sci-gods.

Buried
Revisado: 07-30-23
There is a decent story on here somewhere, but its buried beneath some of the most cringeworthy dialogue and characters this genre has ever seen. I hope this a lack of writing skill rather than intentional choices as at least, the former is fixable

Tedious
Revisado: 05-20-23
Tedious is the #1 word that comes to mind when I think about this book. I can only assume these glowing reviews are bought and paid for. the narrator while giving a good vocal performance, takes insufferably long unneeded pauses, that break immersion and are heavy ADD triggers (ymmv). But all of that is secondary is to this so called "story" which is really just a bunch of words vomited onto a page

Historia
An AI calling itself Schema has assimilated Earth into its System. As a consequence, everyone gained access to status screens, power-ups, and skills. This AI turned these concepts from fiction to fact. It's easy to become intoxicated with leveling up and becoming stronger. To some, it's too good to be true, like living out a dream. For Daniel, however, it's closer to a nightmare.

Boring
Revisado: 05-09-23
this entire story is just the narrator reading off skill boxes, there is no story, you dont even get to listen to how he accomplishes these tasks in any detail. Ex. the mc spent the next few hours shadowboxing until exhausted. Skill up, some stupid A I comment followed by an insignificant stat increase. This will repeat verbatim, except the comment changing for each and every skill level up. You get 1 minute of story/action followed by 20 of skill up notifications. that's it this is the entire story, it won't even let me return this hot garbage. Hard pass
