Not what I was expecting

I like a lot of Blackmore's stuff and since Bray was narrating, I thought I couldn't miss on this one. After reading the summary I was thinking I'd be getting a good old fashioned ghost story with his Brayness reading it. The fact that Bray is the narrator is the ONLY reason I'm giving this 3 stars overall.

That is NOT what this is. I'm half way through it and I'm just not sure if I can finish it. If it weren't for the fact that Bray would lose out on the royalty for his part I'd return it.

This is just one absurd scene after the next. I'm greatly disappointed.

Not what I expected.

All the way through I just kept wondering how will they get out of THIS?!?

The ending could leave this as a stand alone story but I'm glad there will be MORE to it.

Bray was amazing as per his usual performance!

I recommend it highly.

Information was helpful execution was bad

The information in this was helpful in my studying but the editing is lacking. There are some big difficult words in here and Mr. Wilkins flubs a line or 2. Instead of editing those out he just starts the sentence over and continues on.

It's distracting and unprofessional.

Just awful

I kept waiting for this to get better. The concept was intriguing but the story was just weak and full of holes. Phil Thron does his best with what he's got and he's got a bad story to work with here.

Just... pass.

Just all around awful

This one is getting returned. This book is written like a textbook on prepping with some story tossed in to keep it from sounding too crazy.

Then the narration completes the textbook illusion. It's dry and uninspired reading at its worst. Farrell barely changes his voice for different characters and just reads the thing. Occasionally he'll do a slightly falsetto high voice if a woman is supposed to be speaking but even that isn't consistent.

I couldn't get through the first book and will be returning it as soon as I finish writing this review.

Good story, narrator needs practice.

I like where Gualtieri is going with this series. The characters are interesting and there's plenty of room for further development. I'm disappointed in Dulude's reading though.

All too often in the narration
you can tell when she hits the end of
a line of text
and has an unnatural pause
in the flow.

It's pretty distracting for me but not so much that I'd stop listening to this series.

The story is interesting in concept but it's just too full of technical babble with the game stats. I'm seriously considering making this book one of the ones I'm going to return.

Exposition... exposition... exposition!

This ENTIRE book is nothing but setup from the beginning to end. Sure there's some action in it but this is ALL about the story and explanation.

Then again, it HAS to be.

Bill was OVER, the world was saved. The dead were dead and everyone else was human again. Then Gualtieri needed beer money and knew we'd jump right back into Bill and his world. Recapturing the chemistry of the original means some things needed to be restored and some things needed to get better and that required... about 10 hours of explanation. So, you have "Strange Days."

I'm really looking forward to the plot moving forward from here and see how my favorite characters come to terms with the things that have been done to and for them.

You can be sure that I'll save AT LEAST one more Audible Credit for the next one.

Just NOT good

The story has potential but the performance is just awful. You can hear when CP gets to the end...
...of a line.

It's just poor narration and made me not want to finish this story. I'm returning this one.

Excellent wrap up of one storyline.

Mr Tufo does it again. Some things didn't make complete sense to me but I haven't read everything Mike Talbot has appeared in so that's to be expected. After the direction the story took with Tommy in Demon Fallout I thought we'd get a more satisfying conclusion to that particular part of the story but it seemed like that part was just kinda... dropped.
