Historia
Superheroes have always been Leia Birch Briggs' weakness. One tequila-soaked night at a comics convention, the usually level-headed graphic novelist is swept off her barstool by a handsome and anonymous Batman. It turns out the caped crusader has left her with more than just a nice, fuzzy memory. She's having a baby boy - an unexpected but not unhappy development in the 38-year-old's life.

Historia
Sam and Clementine have a wonderful, albeit, busy life: they have two little girls, Sam has just started a new dream job, and Clementine, a cellist, is busy preparing for the audition of a lifetime. If there’s anything they can count on, it’s each other. Clementine and Erika are each other’s oldest friends. A single look between them can convey an entire conversation. But theirs is a complicated relationship, so when Erika mentions a last minute invitation to a barbecue with her neighbors, Tiffany and Vid, Clementine and Sam don’t hesitate.

Loved the story, but the narration hurt my ears.
Revisado: 06-08-16
The book was excellent, but the voice of Anne was ear-piercing. Sometimes I would have to turn it down when she was talking.

Historia
One month into our stay, we'd managed to dispatch most of our charges. We executed the chickens. One of the cats disappeared, clearly disgusted with our urban ways. And Lucky [the cow] was escaping almost daily. It seemed we didn't have much of a talent for farming. And we still had eleven months to go." Antonia Murphy, you might say, is an unlikely farmer. Born and bred in San Francisco, she spent much of her life as a liberal urban cliché, and her interactions with the animal kingdom rarely extended past dinner.

Very entertaining story about a family learning how to start their own farm in New Zealand. I loved her descriptions and laughed out loud at some of the stories.

Historia
Step into the powerhouse life of Bull Meecham. He's all Marine -- fighter pilot, king of the clouds, and absolute ruler of his family. Lillian is his wife -- beautiful, southern-bred, with a core of velvet steel. Without her cool head, her kids would be in real trouble. Ben is the oldest, a born athlete whose best never satisfies the big man. Ben's got to stand up, even fight back, against a father who doesn't give in -- not to his men, not to his wife, and certainly not to his son.

Great story with wonderful characters. The characters were so real. Not evil, but not perfect. Just human beings with all of their flaws. The narrator's voice of Bull Meacham was fantastic.

Historia
History has all but forgotten.... In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next best-selling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But then she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction....

Good story, but wanted more character development
Revisado: 05-22-15
I liked the story, but felt like it could use a lot more character development. Some of the characters seemed a little flat. The Scottish voices of the narrator were excellent, especially the men's voices. But the lead women's characters voices sounded too breathy and weak. Not what I would expect a strong female lead to sound like.

If you could sum up Drums of Autumn in three words, what would they be?
Intriguing, Suspenseful, Exciting
What did you like best about this story?
There were a lot of suspenseful moments in this story. I found myself listening much longer than I intended, because I really wanted to see what would happen next.
What about Davina Porter’s performance did you like?
I love Davina Porter's ability to portray the different voices and different personalities of the characters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I meant to save the book for my long commutes, but I listened to much of it over the weekend, too. I had to keep listening.
