Historia
An instant New York Times best seller, Dan Lyons' "hysterical" (Recode) memoir, hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "the best book about Silicon Valley," takes listeners inside the maddening world of fad-chasing venture capitalists, sales bros, social climbers, and sociopaths at today's tech startups. For 25 years Dan Lyons was a magazine writer at the top of his profession - until one Friday morning when he received a phone call: Poof. His job no longer existed. "I think they just want to hire younger people," his boss at Newsweek told him.

Don't drink the Kool Aid

Saved by the epilogue which was kind of a fluke.
Revisado: 12-21-18
Have you ever been trapped by your spouse while they rattle on about their problems in their job? And all you can reply with is "Wow Sarah from Accounts really said that?". This book is 95% incredibly detailed descriptions of interactions with his colleagues and 5% insight into the industry side of things. The epilogue saves it but he can´t really take credit for that.

The editing is definitely choppy as it transitions between chapters but don’t let this deter you

A decent book but not great
Revisado: 04-18-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I expected more detail in the way of the technical info. This book is unlike other from Hastings in it's tone and it really doesn't suit audio format as you will forget which theatre/belligerent is the focus of each chapter while you pause.
Specifically I wanted to hear about certain aspects of the US/Japanese code war in the Pacific. No mention of the Navajo code talkers etc

Historia
The business marketing genius at the forefront of today's entertainment marketing revolution helps corporate America get hip to today's new consumer - the tan generation. When Fortune 500 companies need to reenergize or reinvent a lagging brand, they call Steve Stoute. In addition to marrying cultural icons with blue-chip marketers, Stoute has helped identify and activate a new generation of consumers. He traces how the "tanning" phenomenon raised a generation of black, Hispanic, white, and Asian consumers who have the same "mental complexion".

Long winded, drawn out and bad narration
Revisado: 04-18-17
Would you try another book from Steve Stoute and Mim Eichler Rivas and/or Kerry Washington?
Yes probably
Any additional comments?
The choice of female narrator is a little odd. Overall it was not enjoyable or informative...the part where he describes Dublin being war torn by bombs when name dropping Bono is ridiculous and inaccurate.

Salacious and with no insight
Revisado: 04-18-17
What disappointed you about The Mummy at the Dining Room Table?
This book offers very little insight. It is nothing more than a collection of juicy, gossipy stories. Little cohesion between any.

Historia
Meet Michael Blutrich, mild-mannered New York lawyer and founder of Scores, the hottest strip club in New York City history, funded by the proceeds of an insurance embezzlement scheme. All Blutrich wanted was to lay low, make the club a success, and put his criminal acts behind him. But the Mafia got involved, and soon the FBI came knocking. Scores became wildly popular, in part thanks to Blutrich's ability to successfully bend the rules of adult entertainment. Unfortunately for Blutrich, it would all soon implode.

Not Hasting´s best
Revisado: 02-16-17
Suffers because unlike most of his other works he couldn't conduct as many personal interviews due to the time span.
Maybe I missed the nuance because it's an audiobook, normally I find myself re-reading lines of his to savour them.
Good but not great.
