of one of Christies favorite stories based on the Charles Lindbergh kidnapping case, it was way before my time but she borrowed characters verbatim and put a mystery twist on it, it is well worth a credit. Some voices left something to be desired and some minor pronunciation

Told more than I wanted to know about a man or woman in Victorian England. It gave me a model 5 years back or so of a mysterious killer known as Iron Range Ripper, Jack 2, some of the grotesqueries I didn't know like the perverted sexual angle, the mutilation of the genitals. Iron Range Jack 2 uses an X-Acto knife and gardener's weed claw honed to razor points. Clitoridectomy...

The Hobbit was first published way back in 1937 and I thought saw some militaristic symbolism but it was pre-WW2 and Tolkien himself said it had no symbolism and that it was just a good children's tale. Now I see it as symbolizing racial equality and discrimination. I also find it sorely lacking in female characters and so a bit sexist. I've read the Hobbit about a dozen times or more and it is seldom I'd feel inclined to say that the A-book is better but it is. Being a fantasy writer I read more for technique than content but both are in abundance. Mr. Inglis deserves kudos for his efforts. He was able to bring the book to life.

A combo of Frankenstein, Woodstock, experimental sex, drug abuse, rock 'n' roll, Jekyll and Hyde, a good gosh almighty tent revival, faith healers, carny, throw in some bad Latin, a preacher psychotic, the rights of old age, of all things mad cows' disease.

It's a hard read but King makes this perfectly feasible. I understand that the man refuses to own one, hmmm, might that have an influence on his fiction?

This rendition is well worth your money or credit. Ben Mears, a writer, returns to what at one time had been his home-town, if you've read Bram Stoker's Dracula you'll recognize that King borrowed from it big time, a fact he readily admits. The original title King had for it was the Second Coming, but his wife Tabitha made him change it because the Second Coming made it sound like a sex. There is a sex scene in it where Ben and Susan Norton get it on and mention of masturbation, "he masturbated to dirty magazines and a jar of Jergen's hand cream." This refers to one of the farm kids who masturbated as often as he could. With sex he draws the outline and lets you paint the picture. A master story-teller; this will still be my favorite book of his, followed by The Stand.
