This was a fun story that kept my attention.
Revisado: 11-10-24
Fun story with some interesting characters! The story line went along smoothly and I was given enough information at the right intervals. It had my attention and I wanted to get to the end to find out what happens ! Going to get more of these books and hope they will not disappoint.

Revisado: 01-22-24
I have been listening to this series and have enjoyed it. I like that it is full of action and romance but at a very simple level. No string language, no graphic scenes, just pure enjoyment!

Historia
It's nearly Christmas, Julia Devine's favourite time of the year. She's just programmed a wonderful lead into the holidays at Sunny Street Cinema, which leaves her plenty of time to worry about going home to Cumbria for Christmas. Her mum and stepdad are fine, but the thought of spending another holiday with her awful stepsister Becca is enough to make a Scrooge out of anyone. When Becca calls to let her know about the dreamy pilot she's bringing to Christmas lunch, Julia finally snaps and does something very silly.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

This book kept my attention the whole time. In fact, as I was coming to the end I started over again so I didn’t miss anything! The nightingale is a peek into history and the emotions that plague people during wartime and after. I would recommend this book to others.

I was somewhat hesitant to get this book. I loved A Man Called Ove so I thought I would give it a try. I am so glad I did. It spoke to my soul and filled my heart with joy and happiness. I would recommend this book to all but especially those that may have forgotten that we are all on a journey and will all make it safely in the end.

Historia
On a dark, wintry day, Eliza Grey receives a mysterious letter from her ailing Nana Mora begging her to come for a visit. This is an easy "Yes". Eliza has always preferred Nana Mora's beach cottage on St. Simons Island to the apartment she and her mom call home in the city. The island is a magical place where stories and legends grow as thick as the Spanish moss dangling in the trees. Now, Nana Mora's eyesight is fading, and there's something she wants to show Eliza before it’s totally gone: a mythical place locals refer to as Sirens Harbor.

Fun but long for a youth book
Revisado: 08-01-20
This story was good but dragged on a little too long. There were a lot of predictable moments but maybe not as obvious to younger readers. The narrator for the young girl was not appealing to me and sometimes became annoying. Overall it was a fun story but once read is enough for me.

The first full-length biography of Fred Rogers, The Good Neighbor tells the story of this utterly unique and enduring American icon. Drawing on original interviews, oral histories, and archival documents, Maxwell King traces Rogers’s personal, professional, and artistic life through decades of work, including a surprising decision to walk away from the show to make television for adults, only to return to the neighborhood with increasingly sophisticated episodes, written in collaboration with experts on childhood development.

Historia
Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds.
