not sure what all the hype was about
Revisado: 01-16-25
it was ok. glad i finished it. tough to keep up with all the female characters & the time line jumps. didn't think it was a huge mystery. liked the ending even tho it was easy to predict. no shocking revelations. the narrator was good altho there was no change or inflection between the characters. that's what made it hard to keep up with all the females - they all sounded exactly the same. the characters were well developed & liked or disliked appropriately. not sure where the title came from. don't know who the God of the Woods was supposed to be. can see where the YA age group may appreciate it more than this old lady.

But when a recent homicide is connected to Alku’s unsolved mass murder, he and cold case agent Evangeline Reed have no choice but to investigate.

interesting twists. made me stop & backup. did i really just hear that?? took a while to get really good but i was glad i stuck with it. once i understood the author's rhythm, i was hooked. didn't even bother me that there was no distinction between male & female dialogues. looking forward to book 2.

not one of his best
Revisado: 11-14-24
no one hits it out of the park every time. the story was tedious, altho i did stick with it cuz i couldn't figure out whodunit ... until i did. the performance was so over the top, overly dramatic, only made the bad story even worse. as negative as that all sounds, i'm glad i finished it but its defiinitely not one i'll ever listen to again.

not my cup of tea
Revisado: 09-28-24
not a period of time i'm at all interested in. because i've loved every other book of his i still gave it a try, but nothing about the story interested me. i was raised by depression era parents & heard all their hard luck stories. that's all i could think about while listening so couldn't get excited about anything. i'll keep reading his other books.

nothing like his other books
Revisado: 09-27-24
don't think i was really the audience he was writing for. too much social media. the sessions with Cathy got tedious, all the repeating what she was doing, but i stuck with it to the end. i enjoyed the little bit of romance. that was new & just the right amount. i've enjoyed many of his other books more, but i'll stick with him.

Historia
A murderer who drinks his victim’s blood? FBI profiler Zoe Bentley and Agent Tatum Gray thought they’d seen it all, but this young woman’s barbaric murder is especially hard to stomach. They didn’t expect to work this case. But vampirism aside, the murderer’s MO is identical to that of Rod Glover - the serial killer who’s been pursuing Zoe since childhood. Forensics reveals the murder to be his work, but not his alone; desperate to fulfill his sick purpose, he has taken on an equally depraved partner.

good ending to the series
Revisado: 08-31-24
overall not as good as #2, but a good way to end the series. i'm a little disappointed that its done because i came to like most of the characters. Marvin is my favorite even tho he plays a minor part. he adds humor, always makes me smile. SPOILER ALERT; just cuz the major bad guy was finally caught was no reason to end Zoe & Tatum's story. over all i very much enjoy Mike Omer's style & plan to read more of his books.

Historia
An online video of a girl clawing at the ceiling of her own grave could be the worst thing FBI forensic psychologist Zoe Bentley has ever seen. Perhaps even more disturbing is the implication of the video’s title: “Experiment Number One.” Zoe and her partner, Special Agent Tatum Gray, work as fast as they can to find the monster behind the shocking video, but soon another one shows up online, and another girl turns up dead.

i've enjoyed all 3 in this series, but i'm glad its over. the negotiator lingo grew old with me. this book was good, altho about 2 hours longer than it needed to be. the ending dragged on & on. i do enjoy Omer's way of character & plot development. i'm about to start a new series of his.
