Historia
Daniel Carter was a London cop who just wanted to do the right thing. But during a raid on an organ-selling chop shop, he is almost torn to pieces by monsters. And no one believes him. Hurt and crippled, his career over, and his life in ruins, Daniel is suddenly presented with a chance at redemption. And revenge. It seems that more than two centuries ago, the monsters of the world disappeared - into the underworld of crime. Guild-like clans now have control over all the dark and illegal trades.

Love Gildart Jackson but...
Revisado: 09-15-21
Simon R Green, I always buy his books but I find the repeative language to be annoying! He actually used the phrase "sharper than a serpent's tooth" in this book, which is used in one of the Nightside books. Getting past that, the story itself was new and interesting. But the reading leaves me frustrated like the Ishmael books do. I've listed to a lot of Gildart Jackson's reading and love him! But in this book and the Ishmael books, the way many characters are read grate on your nerves. I get they are trying to make the character 'rougher' but it takes away from the store considerably.

Potential.... but
Revisado: 09-01-21
I came back to listen to this book three times. The third, I finally finished it. I wanted to love it, the premise was unique and had a lot of potential but it just didn't quite hit the mark for me. The narration was good. I guess I was in the end disappointed with the "enemy".

Ugh. Can't switch readers after 5 books.
Revisado: 02-09-18
What would have made Promise of Wrath better?
Please do not switch readers, it throws you off and nothing sounds like it did.
What didn’t you like about Simon Mattacks’s performance?
He's a fine reader but you get used to the other after listening to 5 books.

Historia
Their latest assignment takes JC and the team to a small country village, site of a famously haunted inn. At first, JC thinks that the spirits in the King’s Arms are more the stuff of urban legend than anything that needs the Ghost Finders’ expertise. Then one story rings true: The tale of a traveler trapped by an unusual thunderstorm who retired to her room for the night - and vanished. Trapped by an unusual thunderstorm - like the one that begins raging outside shortly after they arrive…
