One of my favorite of ~200 audibles, I revisit this often

this is an excellent overview of how to maintain critical thinking in day-to-day life. I've listened to this a few times through in short intervals. It's very dense with information and critical thinking is not the kind of thing that you can just do after reading a book.

I use this as a reminder to keep myself as sharp as I can and not fall victim to my own thinking.

really valuable approach to life to compliment other modes of philosophy and spirit.

was really strong until the 3rd act

as far as Neil gaiman goes I prefer sandman. Still hoping for more installments in that series on here.

For American Gods, despite my three-star rating, It's not a bad read. it has its intrigue. and the production, while not as good as sandman, is still outstanding. It's just that much of what made it good in the beginning is slowly strips away towards the latter half of the third act. while I enjoyed the ending there were some cliches. I'm no writer myself so It's easy enough for me to criticize. I just felt much of the mystery that made it tantalizing to begin with didn't hold throughout. many of the characters are quite likeable. I listened to this while I was sick and it was a very nice distraction.

it's pulp fiction with dated themes

complete with anti-soviet propaganda and it's fair share of copaganda. so yeah I had a hard time taking this story seriously. it's endearing though. really, the only interesting character with any depth at all is the outsider. who sadly, we get far too little of. I will chok this one up to being popular for dog lovers and American nationalists. being my first taste of his "best work", I'll be moving on.

by orders of magnitude. and a great story to boot. awaiting the fourth chapter for some time now. you'll enjoy this if you'd like to be transported by story, character, humor, fantasy, horror, and incredible acting.

A great combination of storytelling and science

I found this to be highly readable and painfully relevant to understanding what I've seen cited in internet articles around the topic. I'm not a science heavy reader and this had excellent cross reference points to history and anthropology to keep me engaged.

Connections to the journey ahead

I didn't think much of this first book until I completed the series and upon a second read there's so much laden meaning I'm glad I held off on my review.

while the film was quite bad, it did give us the bonus of being able to picture Iris Elba as the gunslinger. he really is perfect for the role and his portrayal enriched every bit of the character for me.

The narration is top notch and while the narrator sadly passed before completing the full series, I wasn't disappointed with his stand-in.

I wish I had found this book 20 years ago.

there's multiple actionable strategies for better learning new material. The idea of intentionally pacing learning breaks and quizzes Will restructure how I tacjle learning.

I think we need this information now more than ever in the age of instant information especially as it is supercharged by AI.

harder learning is better. this will give me a road map to determining the difference between effective practice and the illusion of shortcuts.

finale, Best of the series

much of the horror of the series Is reserved for this installment. I think I may take a bit of a reprieve, but after completing all eight books in chronological order I'll eventually circle back to the Marvel comics for more backstory. what a great journey!
