Historia
Thousands of years ago, Earth's terraforming program took to the stars. On the world they called Nod, scientists discovered alien life - but it was their mission to overwrite it with the memory of Earth. Then humanity's great empire fell, and the program's decisions were lost to time. Aeons later, humanity and its new spider allies detected fragmentary radio signals between the stars. They dispatched an exploration vessel, hoping to find cousins from old Earth. But those ancient terraformers woke something on Nod better left undisturbed. And it's been waiting for them.

Very rushed, slow build up
Revisado: 07-01-23
SPOILERS
The scenes where the characters are trying to communicate with the octopi is beyond frustrating. It is really annoying and feels like they get no where. 99% of the story is a setup for the last 30 minutes. It is staggering how quickly everything is wrapped up and finished. It feels so rushed and anti-climatic.
This was a serious let down from the first one.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Fun at times
Revisado: 10-07-22
This book was fun, and a wild adventure, but often times nothing really happened. They would spend the majority of times just talking about how to overcome an obstacle/challenge then Joe would stumble upon a resolution Skippy forgot to tell them. It gets old fast. I don’t have much of a pull to continue with the series, and I just found out there is 14+ books… sounds more of a drag.

I really enjoy this title and it is an amazing deal of 3 books. The story moves along nicely. But I mainly wanted to right this review because of book 3. If I have to listen to Scott say "huh?" in his dumb clueless voice one more time I'm going to lose it. Have him say ANYTHING else other than "huh?" when he isn't listening to other characters!

This was a great book. The characters have great depth, the Tyanids are scary and cool. The battles feel satisfying. I love Dante.

Historia
Lieutenant Heyd Calder is a Primaris Marine whose mastery of warfare is matched only by his diplomatic prowess. Under the orders of Roboute Guilliman, he is deployed to Almace, a minor seat of the Ecclesiarchy, to protect the world at whatever cost. Yet even as diabolical forces leer from the system's edge, Calder discovers that the capital's Cardinal-Governor, a sharp, inscrutable figure of spiritual and material authority, is hiding something. When it becomes clear that conquest is not the enemy’s sole aim, Calder resolves to uncover the secret of Almace.

Historia
The Cadian Gate is broken, and the Imperium is riven in two. The might of the Traitor Legions, kept shackled for millennia behind walls of iron and sorcery, has been unleashed on a darkening galaxy. Among those seeking vengeance on the Corpse Emperor’s faltering realm are the Death Guard, once proud crusaders of the Legiones Astartes, now debased creatures of terror and contagion.

Slow and steady wins the race.
Revisado: 04-13-22
The Lords of Silence is a great showing of the many disgusting "gifts" the plague god has to offer. It is really interesting to see the side of followers and how they do not view these diseases as something negative. There is a surprisingly philosophical tone here that I enjoyed.
My only problem was the audio, it is quiet. I had to turn my car audio way up to hear it. The narrator is amazing though.

Historia
The Night Lords were once among the most potent forces of the Imperium, Space Marines who used fear itself as their weapon. Now, cast adrift from the Emperor's light and hunted as heretics after their monstrous betrayal, the Night Lords clad themselves in symbols of death and fight the Long War, bringing pain and terror to all who worship the corpse-god of Terra. A summons from Warmaster Abaddon sends these rebels on a dangerous journey that leads inexorably to a conflict with the Emperor's chosen warriors, the Blood Angels.

Great view from the other side
Revisado: 02-26-22
This book was great, the story kept moving at a great pace, and the narrator is awesome. It was really cool seeing the point of view from the "bad guys" side of things. This book really emphasis the struggles that the Night Lords have with the evil powers of chaos and how they suffer from continual degradation of their legion. Went onto the second book without hesitation.

Really meh
Revisado: 02-15-22
This was the first of the Argonauts series that I listened too. It seems as if though the narrator is at 1.5x speed. He speaks quick and with small breaks after sentences.
The characters are really flat. With the one being so insufferable as he constantly talks about female parts and getting laid.
The writing in this is not enjoyable. It goes, "Raid said." "Shaw said" "Raid said" "He said" " He said" there are other ways of saying "said."
Would not recommend to use a token on. I got this for free. If not free I would not recommend.

Exile to the miserable world of Sedh, the disgraced Necron Lord Oltyx is consumed with bitterness. Once heir to the throne of a dynasty, he now commands nothing but a dwindling garrison of warriors, in a never-ending struggle against Ork invaders. Unless Oltyx acts to save his dynasty, revenge will win him only ashes.

Revisado: 02-13-22
Being my first book of Necrons this was an interesting dive. Expands a lot of the political side of Necrons and their struggling dynasties. Shows a lot of how the Necrons struggle with their former flesh selfs.
