Historia
In 1993 Greg Mortenson was the exhausted survivor of a failed attempt to ascend K2, an American climbing bum wandering emaciated and lost through Pakistan's Karakoram Himalaya. After he was taken in and nursed back to health by the people of an impoverished Pakistani village, Mortenson promised to return one day and build them a school. From that rash, earnest promise grew one of the most incredible humanitarian campaigns of our time: Greg Mortenson's one-man mission to counteract extremism by building schools, especially for girls, throughout the breeding ground of the Taliban.

Great message, but slow read
Revisado: 05-26-09
I feel bad giving this book 3 stars because the message is fantastic and everyone should read it. I thought the story dragged out a bit, and I found myself loosing interest about halfway though. I did manage to finish the story but I was a bit of a struggle.

Historia
Bernard Cornwell, the New York Times best-selling "reigning king of historical fiction" (USA Today), tackles his most thrilling, rich, and enthralling subject yet - the heroic tale of Agincourt. The epic battle immortalized by William Shakespeare in his classic Henry V is the background for this breathtaking tale of heroism, love, devotion, and duty from the legendary author of the Richard Sharpe novels and the Saxon Tales.

Little slow, but great ending
Revisado: 05-18-09
For me the first two thirds of the book was a little slow. The last third, however, was classic Cornwell and the battle details and descriptions were terrific. The ending more then makes up for the slow start.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Good story not a chick book
Revisado: 07-01-08
I was worried that this was going to be a "chick book," especially since most of the reviews I read were from women. This book does have a love story in it, but it's definitely not just for women, it's a very good story. I could have done with less of the old man, but over all I really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it.

Historia
In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

Why did it have to end??
Revisado: 12-21-07
This book is every bit as good as Pillars of the Earth. Don't be scared off by the length of the book, the 40+ hours will fly by leaving you wanting more! The book is a little racy at times so maybe not the best for children under 15, but a must read for everyone else!

Good but a little stale
Revisado: 06-22-07
This book does a great job presenting the facts, but it's more of detailed listing of actions rather then an description of the experience. It depends on what you're looking for. If you want the black and white facts this book is for you. If you're looking for an adventure novel you'll be disappointed.

Good not super
Revisado: 05-20-07
This was my first book by the author. It was a good book but not great. If you like this type of book, I highly recommend the author Vince Flynn. He writes the same type of story but I enjoy them much more.
