Historia
For nearly four decades, David Sedaris has faithfully kept a diary in which he records his thoughts and observations on the odd and funny events he witnesses. Anyone who has attended a live Sedaris event knows that his diary readings are often among the most joyful parts of the evening. But never before have they been available in print. Now, in Theft by Finding, Sedaris brings us his favorite entries. From deeply poignant to laugh-out-loud funny, these selections reveal with new intimacy a man longtime fans only think they know.

No. Junk
What could David Sedaris have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Get a life
How did the narrator detract from the book?

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
None
Any additional comments?
I looked forward to humorous insights. What I got was an essay of self loathing. Unless you were on drugs while listening, I can't imagine thinking anything was funny. Stopped at chapter 7, skipped to chapter 22 to see if the direction of the book had taken any turns. It hadn't. Save your money/credit.

Historia
The best-selling author of Truman and John Adams, David McCullough has written profiles of exceptional men and women past and present who have not only shaped the course of history or changed how we see the world but whose stories express much that is timeless about the human condition. Here are Alexander von Humboldt, whose epic explorations of South America surpassed the Lewis and Clark expedition; Harriet Beecher Stowe, "the little woman who made the big war”....

National Treasure
Revisado: 03-14-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Brave Companions to be better than the print version?
The Author, David McCullough is a national treasure. I have read most of his books and have enjoyed every one. This book is unique because it contains many portraits and even and address to a graduating class. Mr McCullough is very clear and straightforward in his writings. I highly recommend reading all of his books
Have you listened to any of David McCullough’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. This one is unique. Instead of one subject, he covers many. Some of the subjects I was totally unfamiliar with. I am glad for being introduced to them.
Any additional comments?
Chapter 16 was probably my favorite.

Would you listen to A Full Cup again? Why?
Sir Thomas Lipton was a fascinating character! I work in Newport, RI where the Cup races were held for decades, so this may have added to the enjoyment of this book. I had never heard of Sir Lipton's tremendous rise to riches before reading this autobiography. A true Rags to Riches story. I also happen to love tea! Well written, well read.

Historia
Here is the behind-the-scenes story of how the United States forged its wartime alliance with Britain, told from the perspective of three key American players in London: Edward R. Murrow, Averell Harriman, and John Gilbert Winant. Drawing from a variety of primary sources, Olson skillfully depicts the dramatic personal journeys of these men who, determined to save Britain from Hitler, helped convince a cautious Franklin Roosevelt and a reluctant American public to support the British at a critical time.

Fascinating
Revisado: 02-13-12
What made the experience of listening to Citizens of London the most enjoyable?
A lot of historical data that you won't find in the history books. The role of these Gentlemen and the role of the P51 (which the USA was initially reluctant to use) really had and impact on the war and the shape of the world today. I enjoyed this book thoroughly!

A mild-mannered professor from Chicago, Dodd brings along his wife, son, and flamboyant daughter, Martha. At first Martha is entranced by the parties and pomp, and the handsome young men of the Third Reich with their infectious enthusiasm for restoring Germany to a position of world prominence. Enamored of the “New Germany,” she has one affair after another....

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Everyone should read this book before voting in the next election. If anyone thinks what happened in Germany couldn't happen in the USA, this book should open their eyes. Great insight into the lead up to WWII. The distinction between Patriotism and Nationalism comes alive in these pages. Well written, well delivered.

Historia
We view the long, horrifying struggle from the vantage of the White House as Lincoln copes with incompetent generals, hostile congressmen, and his raucous cabinet. He overcomes these obstacles by winning the respect of his former competitors, and in the case of Seward, finds a loyal and crucial friend to see him through. This brilliant multiple biography is centered on Lincoln's mastery of men and how it shaped the most significant presidency in the nation's history.

This book looks at the personal strengths of our greatest President. We need another like him. Would have enjoyed the book more with a differant reader, however. Richard Thomas's bland voice often seems strained and does not inspire.

A good book but there seemed to be an unending "more of the same" pattern. The end was disappointing in that it ended quickly without full explanation. Almost like the writer got tired and wanted to get it over with. If you like suspense novels, you may enjoy it anyway.

Historia
Two men, each handsome and unusually adept at his chosen work, embodied an element of the great dynamic that characterized America’s rush toward the twentieth century. The architect was Daniel Hudson Burnham, the fair’s brilliant director of works and the builder of many of the country’s most important structures, including the Flatiron Building in New York and Union Station in Washington, D.C. The murderer was Henry H. Holmes, a young doctor who, in a malign parody of the White City, built his “World’s Fair Hotel” just west of the fairgrounds.

A wonderful and true story that brings historical characters to life. Ever wonder who designed Central Park or how Frank Lloyd Wright got his start? Remember a young engineer named Ferris? Read this book and see how they all were entwined in the late 1800's. I enjoyed this book thoroughly.
