Meet the galaxy's unluckiest outlaws. Carl Ramsey is an ex-Earth Navy fighter pilot turned con man. His ship, the Mobius, is home to a ragtag crew of misfits and refugees looking to score a big payday but more often just scratching to pay for fuel. The crew consists of his ex-wife (and pilot), a drunkard, four-handed mechanic, a xeno-predator with the disposition of a 120kg housecat, and the galaxy's most-wanted wizard.

this is worth your credit
Revisado: 09-04-19
I loved this. I usually only listen in the car, so it took months to finish. I really loved the character development. I can't wait to catch up later with the crew!

Beyond just good storytelling, the narration, pacing and voice acting in this book are wonderful.

Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

I've read The Witching Hour several times.
Revisado: 12-21-17
This was one of my favorite audio books I've ever listened to. I enjoyed the story so much more this time around- listening instead of reading.

I really dislike the protagonist
Revisado: 10-29-17
So, usually when I read a book to myself, the main character is fairly likable and interesting. I have no problem understanding the motivation behind the actions they take or don't take.
In this book, I hated the protagonist. She was stupid. She was clueless. She did stupid stuff simply because she felt like it. She seriously didn't get what the heck was going on... with her lovelife, her motivations, or anything.
It made for good reading. Even as I was rolling my eyes (as I drove down I-5 to go to work), listening to the exploits of this girl, I found myself excited to see what was going to happen next.
The story: 5 stars. I liked the story, and emotionally reacted to the protagonist.
The narration: This series was the first time I'd listened to Angel Clark as a narrator, and I enjoyed it. Some of the 'boy' voices were a little overdone (like Bookie's) but he was always recognizable without needing a prompt as to his identity. I really enjoyed the pacing of the narration. Not too fast, not too slow. Very listenable.
You might notice this is the same review as I left on book 4. However, this 'box set' of audio books was NOT whispersync for voice ready, and I was really saddened by that. I love being able to read and listen at any time, without losing my spot!

Historia
For as long as I've lived, Dark Walkers have been hunting Plaguers, seeking them for their magic. But there's one Plaguer they want most of all. Me. Since the fall of civilization, the human race has been barely surviving. Another outbreak of the Bloody Death could be our final straw and there's only one way to ensure that doesn't happen. I need to kill the leader of the Dark Walkers. I'm stronger than ever but with more to lose than I ever thought possible. For the first time, I feel like I've got a family, a home...Dax.
