Opened my eyes
Revisado: 08-13-23
I adopted my dog from an agency which contracts with shelters in the south. I was informed of my baby's horrible abuse history. But I never knew of the abusive environments of the puppy mills. This book opened my eyes. The author was very thorough in describing laws and regulations, and the implementation of them (or lack thereof). While emotionally difficult to face the reality, I couldn't put it down, wanting to learn more on the issue. Highly recommend the book.

Historia
On March 26, 2018, rescue workers discovered a crumpled SUV and the bodies of two women and several children at the bottom of a cliff beside the Pacific Coast Highway. Investigators soon concluded that the crash was a murder-suicide, but there was more to the story: Jennifer and Sarah Hart, it turned out, were a white married couple who had adopted the six Black children from two different Texas families in 2006 and 2008. Behind the family's loving facade, however, was a pattern of abuse and neglect that went ignored.

There are more than one side of a story
Revisado: 04-06-23
I found the book interesting and well written. I respect the author for paying attention to the birth families. There is no doubt that they suffered and continued to be mistreated. I would like to add, however, that the matter of a child removal often involves court. The description of how children were removed from their parents in the book comes from the parents, may or may not be how it actually happened. I also felt the author paying less attention to the impact of having parents with substance use and mental illness but blaming so much on poverty. Finally with so much emphasis on racism, which I agree, I wonder if this book could have been narrated by an African American mother. It is a little disappointing that this book could come across as the white people's story when African American person is not included in the book production.

Historia
At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over working in teams. It is to introverts—Rosa Parks, Chopin, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak—that we owe many of the great contributions to society.

Excellent book
Revisado: 02-24-23
It was inspiring and informative. I have to say that there are variations amongst introverts that not everyone is good at writing or neat and organized. But overall, well researched and an excellent book.

In this searing memoir, Congressman Jamie Raskin tells the story of the forty-five days at the start of 2021 that permanently changed his life—and his family’s—as he confronted the painful loss of his son to suicide, lived through the violent insurrection in our nation’s Capitol, and led the impeachment effort to hold President Trump accountable for inciting the political violence.

Empowering
Revisado: 01-31-23
I was impressed by the author's performance as the impeachment manager a few years back. So I had a high expectations of this book. It far exceeded my high expectations. I learned so much from this book, both about the political process and his family values. Deepest condolences for your loss, and please keep Tommy in your heart every moment. thank you for this wonderful book.
