Historia
Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

Terrific Story. Families with War Veterans - READ
Revisado: 06-07-19
I purchased this on a whim because it was free this month and the synopsis sounded interesting.
Once I started, couldn't turn it off. Went straight through to the end. Wow!
Weeped at times when I saw similarities with my own father, though he was not a veteran, he was raised during the depression, seemingly everyone was emotionally hard then.
The family that resulted from the search for H.W. Mulligan, ANC Grave 1787-1, truly heartwarming.
Thank you for putting a name to and repatriating an Unknown and writing a great book about how difficult Father and Son relationships can be.
Semper Fortis. Semper Fidelis. Construimus Batuimus.

Historia
WAR. It will happen again. We must be ready. Sober words from Dr. Sebastian Gorka, a man who has made the unvarnished truth his specialty. And there’s one eternal truth that Americans are in danger of forgetting: the most important weapon in any geopolitical conflict is the will to win. And we must win. In this powerful manifesto, Dr. Gorka explains the basic principles that have guided strategists since Sun Tzu penned The Art of War in the sixth century BC. To defeat your enemy, you must know him. But that’s the last thing liberal elites are interested in.

if you have concerns about which way to vote this November read this book.
I have seen Dr. Gorka on television over the last couple of years and started realizing how much I agreed with his analysis.
Very enjoyable performance.

Historia
When Muslim fundamentalists blow up a key Soviet oil complex, making an already critical oil shortage calamitous, the Russians figure they are going to have to take things into their own hands. They plan to seize the Persian Gulf, and more ambitiously, to neutralize NATO. Thus begins Red Storm, an audacious gamble that uses diplomatic maneuver to cloak a crash military build-up.

GREAT BOOK! Wish they would make it a movie!

Years ago I visited my sister who had this book on her coffee table. I picked it up Friday evening and finished it by Saturday night.
I can't say exactly why this book moves me like it does, but, it was great to read it again, this time in audio form.
I love Tom Clancy, God rest his soul, and own most of his hard cover and many of the soft cover Op Center and other series books.
Anyone that enjoys Cold War era historical novels or have seen the Jack Ryan movies will enjoy this book, I personally think this one is better than some of those.
