Historia
Nadya had three mothers: the one who bore her, the country that poisoned her, and the one who adopted her. Nadya never considered herself less than whole, not until her adoptive parents fitted her with a prosthetic arm against her will, seeking to replace the one she'd been missing from birth. It was cumbersome; it was uncomfortable; it was wrong. It wasn't her. Frustrated and unable to express why, Nadya began to wander, until the day she fell through a door into Belyrreka, the Land Beneath the Lake—and found herself in a world of water.

You never know if the story will end tragically or happily, but you can trust that the story will be beautiful and will end too soon. I've waited an entire year for this book and was not at all disappointed.

My hopes may have been too high this time.
Revisado: 07-12-20
The book was okay. I think that the main plot of the book was good and engaging. I remained very interested the entire time, but I found myself annoyed with the romantic story line. It's not a deal breaker, and if there are any more books in this series' future I'll listen- but dysfunctional romance is annoying.

Fantastic concepts but poor execution
Revisado: 08-18-19
I wouldn't go so far as to say the book in an abomination, but if it were my first exposure to MTG, I suspect it would be my last as well. This book has a more fanfiction vibe, characters lack depth and the story felt far too rushed. That said, if you want a story that is full of amazing creative concepts and you can ignore what feels like poor writing you may actually enjoy this book.

Thought provoking and engaging!
Revisado: 12-03-17
There were many new ideas introduced in interesting ways. I expected to be bored, but was pleasantly surprised!
This book, though about a conceived future, offers insight into the present. It shows us how silly we are to hold on to unsubstantiated beliefs, and uses available data to give us a nudge toward more rational thought.

I could never begin to praise this book enough.
Revisado: 01-08-13
When I first read the books description I was doubtful because I got some vibe that it was a romance novel, the rest of the description seemed wonderful so I bought it and I this was one of the most exciting books I have read in years. Virtual reality provides the ability to make an otherwise outrageous treasure hunt story into a feasible video game adventure.

Historia
The award-winning artist Brom takes us on a haunting look at the true world of Peter Pan, in his first full-length novel. From modern day New York to the dying land of Faerie, The Child Thief reveals the world of Peter Pan through the eyes of an insecure runaway who is seduced by Peter’s charm. But any dreams of a fairy wonderland are quickly replaced by the reality of life and death survival as Peter’s recruits are forced into a lethal battle in which the line between good and evil is blurred.

Very well done.
Revisado: 01-08-13
The Child Thief was interesting and cleverly written. I enjoyed the new and interesting take on a very classic story. The story is told from many perspectives, so you know how each of the main characters feel, which makes them easy to relate to. It was a fairly violent book, but it only seemed to make the book seem more authentic. The danger seemed somewhat more real when described in such detail. I couldn't listen to this book all at one. It was dark and I often had to listen to some happy music because the story bummed me out so much.I wasn't sure I'd really like the book very much, and skipped over it several times. Then I read Krampus, also by Brom, and after reading that I was hooked on his style.
All in all it was a fantastic book, that I would be happy to forget- ONLY so that I could read it again as if it were the first time.

Historia
One Christmas Eve in a small hollow in Boone County, West Virginia, struggling songwriter Jesse Walker witnesses a strange spectacle: seven devilish figures chasing a man in a red suit toward a sleigh and eight reindeer. When the reindeer leap skyward, taking the sleigh, devil men, and Santa into the clouds, screams follow. Moments later, a large sack plummets back to earth, a magical sack that thrusts the down-on-his-luck singer into the clutches of the terrifying Yule Lord, Krampus.

Dark, violent, and twisted.
Revisado: 12-14-12
The story is very well written, and draws on less well known myths. The idea that Santa has an archenemy is fascinating. With that said this book is one of the most violent works of fiction I have ever read in my life. Krampus himself is a twisted being, and the desire to kill Santa is dark. If that doesn't bother you too much then I strongly recommend this book.

It's not long, but it is an interesting story!
Revisado: 09-14-12
If you don't mind that this is just a little story that isn't in any way connected to a bigger picture you may like this story. It's a little odd, and different and uses the word anus more times then I have EVER heard in any other book- but it's sweet and worth listening to!
