Very sad indeed
Revisado: 05-08-20
I had a hard time getting through this book not because it was boring but so sad. The book was well written and really made you think about how a family can recover from a tragic accident that happened. I found it interesting that the narrator was the dead daughter, therefore kept me interested in the story. It was so so sad though to me, so it took nearly a month for me to finish it. However, even though it was sad I enjoyed it, and the reader was fantastic!

Historia
From the best-selling author of The Beekeeper’s Promise comes a gripping story of three young women faced with impossible choices. How will history - and their families - judge them? Paris, 1940. With the city occupied by the Nazis, three young seamstresses go about their normal lives as best they can. But all three are hiding secrets. War-scarred Mireille is fighting with the Resistance; Claire has been seduced by a German officer; and Vivienne’s involvement is something she can’t reveal to either of them.

a good read.
Revisado: 02-19-20
While it is not the best book I have read on this subject, at the heart of it, I did like this book. It was well written by the author. This book is about Paris during WWII. The story involves three young seamstresses who get involved in the Resistance. This story I did find engaging and it tells a real story about the history of the Nazi occupation in France.
The author goes back and forth from past and present to tell this story. The strength of the book is in the historical life of her grandmother.
I did go between reading until my eyes got tired then listened to it on audible which gives you another perspective. The reader was very good.

Loved it!
Revisado: 02-15-20
This was such a good book, I literally did not want it to end. Well written and researched, this novel tells of “wives,” and “daughters,” paid for and sent to the United States as “paper relatives” in the 1920’s.
The author has written an intriguing story of one such “paper wife.”
This book held my attention throughout. The storyline was most interesting. I loved all the characters and I learned a lot about the immigration history of our country, of which I knew nothing about.
I would highly recommend this book. I also heard the audible on this book when my eyes got tired reading, the reader was excellent. I really could picture the whole story like a play.

deserves more than 5 stars
Revisado: 02-05-20
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would of. Wonderful story, heart-tugging, lots of emotions. This author has a fantastic way of writing, I have read the whole series and have to say I liked this one the best, but really they all were good. I just couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen. I was sad, I was angry, I was happy while reading this book. I can't say enough about it. So far I have liked everything this author has written. I don't think you will be disappointed. I Love this reader, she is excellent, and if you want to get a real feel for the characters you should listen.

almost 5 stars
Revisado: 01-27-20
Once more, tales of the scavengers daughter's. A page-turner, and so many emotions go along with this story. I only gave it 4 stars this time as somehow the story feels unresolved....it just ends...It didn't tie up the loose ends. Many unanswered parts....I still loved the storyline though. The reader is fantastic.

Loved it
Revisado: 01-16-20
I was drawn to this book because I used to live on Maui. I loved the storyline and the characters. A really nice story which included Hawaiian traditions which I thoroughly enjoyed. A little mystery, a lot of secrets, and raw emotions. This book deserves 5 stars. And the reader was fantastic.

not quite 5 stars
Revisado: 11-20-19
A very unusual storyline but one I could get behind. The reader was very good, I got to know them with the reader's help of course. the only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that during the many conversations there was he said, she said redundantly, I found it to be annoying, but still a good read.

Revisado: 10-14-19
Boy didn't see that ending. While I enjoyed the book and the reader, there were some slow parts, but by the time I started to drift in thought, it would pick up again. I was surprised to see who had done it! That is a good indication it was a good story!

A fantastic read. I really enjoyed the book. The reader was so good, it sounded like a play as she changed her voice to accommodate the character. It had everything in it, humor, sadness, mystery. You will really enjoy this book.
