King Midas made me the woman I am today. Notorious. Unattainable. His. The thing about being confined is that you believe it's to keep the bad out...Until you realize it's about keeping you in. I'm now in a strange kingdom surrounded by liars, with no allies of my own, but I won't sit idly by and let myself wither. No, something's bloomed from the pit of my repression. Something dark. Something angry.

I thought this book was a little boring. It was Ok up until the male narrator started and then the story just no longer kept my interest. I do not plan to go onto the next books.

Historia
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, listeners can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire.

Exciting!
Revisado: 09-19-20
I really enjoyed this retelling. Some parts were slow and there was a lot of internal monologue, but overall it was more exciting than Twilight. I loved hearing Edwards thoughts, and through Edward many others thoughts. I would love to read all the books from Edward’s perspective because he knows so much more than Bella about what’s going on. Reading Twilight so many years ago I immediately understood why Bella loved Edward. Reading it from Edwards perspective it’s a little harder to understand why she loves him so quickly. I finally understood why Edward sees that Bella thinks differently than other humans. I really loved hearing Edwards siblings thoughts. Definitely worth reading if your a Twilight fan.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I wouldn’t say this is a happy book, but definitely interesting. The narration was perfect. It was a book I rushed through to find out what happens. I wish there was a little more detail in the ending. I’m sure it’s a book I will listen to again.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

Boring - couldn’t finish
Revisado: 07-17-19
I came across this book as being advertised as the next Harry Potter (LMFAO - no no no that is a lie). This book started slow, continued to be slow, and ended slow. Its an “adult” Twilight but less intriguing, probably because it’s EXTREMELY too long! It’s like the author wrote in too much just to have a big book and not really for a reason. Out of the first 16 hours only about 10 minutes were actually exciting. I love fantasy and I love romance, but this was just boring. I listened to 16 hours just because it had great reviews (30,000+ 4.5 average star review: what am I missing people?!?!).

Historia
When Lawrence Anthony learned that the northern white rhino, living in the war-ravaged Congo, was on the very brink of extinction, he knew he had to act. If the world lost the sub-species, it would be the largest land mammal since the woolly mammoth to go extinct. In The Last Rhinos, Anthony recounts his attempts to save these remarkable animals. The demand for rhino horns in the Far East has turned poaching into a dangerous black market that threatens the lives of not just these rare beasts, but also the rangers who protect them.

Elightening
Revisado: 12-14-18
I read the Elephant Whisperer a year ago and loved it! I decided to try The Last Rhinos and was not disappointed. This book was eye opening. With both The Elephant Whisperer and The Last Rhinos I laughed, got angry, and cried. These books are fantastic not only because they are entertaining (and shockingly non-fiction) but also because they inspire the reader to make a difference somehow, in any way they can. It wasn't until the end of the book that I found out the Lawrence Anthony had died shortly after this book was completed and this truly saddened me. I thank him and his team for there work as conservationists. I hope that Lawrence Anthony's wife's book is added to Audible soon (called An Elephant in My Kitchen, by Francoise Malby-Anthony).

Good and Bad
Revisado: 08-20-18
There were some good tips and some outdated tips. I don’t think this book really helped me with my difficult coworker, but it did go over some interesting ways to deal with people. I personally don’t think touching a coworker is ever appropriate and the author suggest touching hands, arms, or shoulders when a person is upset. I personally would not like anyone touching me and it would make me feel on edge if they did. There were good suggestions on how to stop annoying people from talking to you. There wasn’t anything about how to deal with coworkers who aren’t team players, who don’t hold their weight at work, or who constantly have errors is their work. Obviously the author would say take these concerns to your boss, but not all bosses are responsive to complaints.

Thumbs Up
Revisado: 08-19-18
This was a great conclusion to a really good series. I really loved all the main characters. Ruby was not my favorite in this book, but towards the end I started to understand her thoughts and decisions a little. I feel like the author created unnecessary emotional drama just because, but with no real problems to cause it. I also feel like this author is very anticlimactic. Other than Ruby it’s almost like no one really is ever the hero of the day and some things just end so abruptly (trying not to give things away). I would definitely recommend the series overall. All three of the books had a lot of slow and waiting parts, but in the end it was a nice series.

Fun
Revisado: 08-08-18
This book was pretty good. I really enjoyed the main characters and thought them all very believable. I though I had them all figured out, but there were still a few surprises. Some things I could see coming a mile away (like the ending) and others were small surprises to what I thought to be true. The first half of the book after the initial introduction was a little slow. A lot of driving around and character building. The second half of the book got more interesting and gave me that spark I needed to listen until the end. Liam is everything a young (or older) girl could want. I love how honest they all are with each other (at least where it matters).
