Historia
King Liam, First of His Name! A Belter miner of some repute! Well, he will be when he gets back from his journey to the Oort Cloud. He often fantasizes about the looks on everyone’s face when he comes waltzing back to Ceres in the asteroid belt, richer than any belter has ever been. Oh sure, four years of isolation might have left him a little touched, but he only has four more years to go. He just has to make it to a secret planetoid he found—call it Lucky Strike!—and all his dreams will come true. What could go wrong?

An Animated Listen
Revisado: 06-06-24
This is a tale about the slowly derailing Liam, a belter miner, dreaming of striking gold and sticking it up every naysayers nose. Who doesn't want that, right? Cleverly written and narrated with an animated tone and dialogue, done well by the author. We get to listen as the main character seesaws from stable to unstable, driving the narrative forward, making this listener eager to know what happens next. This is a punchy, soliloquised tale of one man's consuming determination, and his humbling damnation.

Earthquakes rock the planet, revealing massive metallic objects and vast subterranean graveyards. One such location is in the Arizona desert. Scientists believe this incredible discovery may hold answers to the origins of man, but when the site is suddenly shut down due to seismic activity, one researcher knows she must return. Assistant archaeologist Rebecca Duccati sneaks into the compound alone, and will have to dig deep to find clues in these strange underground caves and tunnels.

Gripping!
Revisado: 04-08-24
A gripping and engrossing story that draws you in from the get-go. The visceral imagery created by Lonnie Busch, conveyed beautifully by Patricia Shade's narration is a treat! With well-rounded characters, one can't help but get drawn into their lives and their fates. Revolving around a post pandemic world we are now all too familiar with, throw in alien encounters, and people desperate to retain their humanity, all combines for an immersive, moving tale. A thrilling, science fiction mystery you can sink you teeth into.

Fast-Paced & Character Driven
Revisado: 09-28-23
Descendant Machine was a totally immersive, fast-paced, and character-driven science fiction space opera ride. Humans and Jzat co-exist in this epic story set in the Continuance universe. It finds the protagonist, Nicola Malfada, on a dangerous mission--which at first seems straightforwards, but in the end, not so much. Life changing decisions must be made, but it all came to a satisfying conclusion.
I chose the audiobook version for convenience, but wishing now I'd gotten the Kindle version. Easily remedied. Narrator Rebecca Norfolk did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life, if only by changing the pitch of her voice. Overall, it was a thrilling ride!

This is not a love story. Unconditional is a story about love. When Chris and his father Phil decide to spend a long weekend break in Bilbao, their relationship is stretched to the limit. All because of a woman. Chris learns the hard way how actions have consequences. Phil also learns that it takes unexpected blows to put love to the test.

Brilliantly Done
Revisado: 08-19-21
Written by Ant Richards and narrated by Ant Richards, along with the talented voices of Laura Piñero and Carmen Olarte. Because he knows the story and the general vibe, it's always a treat to see how the author conveys the story in his own voice. In this story, we follow the life of a teenaged Chris, holidaying in Spain with his father. It's a sort of coming of age, rites of passage, and the unconditional love between father and son, or rather, the realisation of what it means to have that sort of love and connection. Brilliantly read, with an easy background ambient noise that only lends to the overall feel of the story. Mr. Richards has an incredible reading voice, perfect for narrations. I look forward to hearing more stories read by him.

Historia
Glen is a travel writer. A weekend break in Madrid turns into a mashup of biblical proportions after a night out with his party loving, short-fused, often violent friend Mark - a South East Londoner now living in Madrid - and his feisty, lunatic Basque girlfriend, Ainhoa. Booze? Of course, and lots of it. Memory loss? You bet! A missing mobile phone? Well, obviously, what would you expect! Your average weekend getaway - what could possibly go wrong?

Brilliant
Revisado: 03-02-21
I'm not a big audiobook listener, mostly because I don't find them/narrators very engaging or voices suitable to the content of the books. But I was pleasantly surprised with this one, and it was like listening to those old radio shows with the full sound effects, music, even different voice changes and additional narrators for characters. It's great that the author himself reads the book, so he knew the story intimately (he has a great voice!) and knew exactly how to bring the character to life. I've read the short story before, but I thought I'd give the audio version a try, and I must say, it was an enjoyable, engaging experience. I would definitely listen to more from this narrator and writer.
