Not a stand alone novel!

This novel was mediocre at best. I forced myself to listen to the last 30 minutes just for closure and just when real viable interactions began it said I must go to part two. 😳 this is my first read for this author but it seemed a lot of fluff and fillers, she stretched it out with a whole lot of nothing it’s aim to keep booking going out so have no depth.

The female whined the whole book I understand tragedy losses and self-esteem issues but for the whole book he killed a romance

Kate Reading is the only reason I finished the book and with that I fast forward much. Too many side stories that did not fit smoothly. It could have been a comedy but felt more like a joke.

I do not understand the four ratings

I quit. I am refusing to read books from authors that have been writing for more then 10 years and are cranking out two books a year. Let them grown heavy in the purse from someone else. This book was mediocre at best. A different story from her other books, however, characters' interaction was mirrored. The main character's relationship here was less developed, and the story line shallow — Eloise James in an excellent writer. I am disappointed in the assembly line books she and her counterparts are pushing out to fill the quota. Can someone say no? I am. Audible is no doubt tired of me returning books I can't finish. I must find another genre to read.

Missing the mark

I love Lucinda Brant novels. She is an excellent writer, This was not her best work but still a good read. I thought it was a little too over the edge in making everything work out for the good. Also, I do not believe that it is a stand-alone novel. For the most part, it felt like it was cleaning up the issues of the last book.

Excellent writer... yes I do believe this is written by Lucinda Brant. When an excellent writer, and narrator comes together its a wonderful dance.

So worth a credit

I hesitated reading this book since it came out because of the negative reviews, oh how wrong they were. This is an excellent story and read. Well worth a listen if you are a Kleypas fan, or other, please don't hesitate. Those reviewers that complained about an over play of the heroines body complex are either 1 beautiful and never had an any insecurities or 2 have complexes and has yet to come to terms with them therefor are uncomfortable reading about such. The topic was no overplayed but handled appropriately within the story for someone that has such a complex. This is one of Kleypas better books for sure. Well done.

Rachael Anderson is an excellent writer. I am glad I found her few writers are her equal. Helen Taylor is also an excellent narrator. I could listen to her all day. She was a perfect match for the book. The story was a light, refreshing read.

Too long

This would have been a decent story if it was not so drawn out. The repeat of the same information, again and again, was painful. I went form listening at 1.25 to 1.50 and finally, 2.0. I guess I kept listening to get closure. I agree with the other review (adh) the story was superficial.

Book started off well. The heroin bravery was way over done. Too unbelievable I was pressed in finishing book.
