Skippy and Col. Joe are quickly becoming some of my favorite scifi characters. They seamlessly flow almost as an integrated character. Neither are static and in this novel particularly you can see the changes that Joe and Skippy both are internalizing.

The story is just fun, plan and simple. it's the type of thing I fantasized about as a child, and I love the universe that has been built.

RC Bray is still in top form, I've originally listened to him in the "fear" saga, and I can't imagine a better narrator for this series, he is a perfect fit. Frankly his Skippy always keeps me on my toes.

Looking forward to the next release!

The Thrawn Book I've Wanted

Thrawn is the thrawniest thrawn that ever did thrawn!

But in all seriousness I have been waiting for this book since it was first announced, and before that I was certainly hoping for it. So it was with much trepidation that I picked this up, and I was not disappointed at all!

Narration: Marc Thompson did a masterful job of the voice I always imagined Thrawn would have had. Having listened to him narrate "new dawn" I was a bit relieved he was a known quality. He certainly outdid himself, voices were diverse and maintained throughout the story, sounds and effects were on point. All and all, excellent job.

Story: The rise of Grand Admiral Thrawn, need I say more? I do? Wow, noob, git gud. Ok fine, the story has excellent cadence, never making me feel overwhelmed or bored at any point. The character development is very intriguing. I looked forward to every chapter introduction, as I thought it gave a very good flavor and foreshadowing to what I was about to hear. And seriously, the plot was excellent, wound it's way with the new canon perfectly.

Why are you still reading this...get the book already!

I was wary with all of the switch to Disney and removing of "canon" titles. This was my second book in the new Canon and like Tarkin this hit it out of the park.

The story was engaging, you felt like you could be running along side the characters. The personalities grew and formed into people we love from rebels, but gives you a great understanding of where they come from.

The narration was excellent, characters were diverse and none grated on the ears, truly an easy listening experience.

Over all could not recommend it more, a great addition to the star wars universe

I had been waiting for this, it was absolutely amazing, while at the same time it made you think about what had been lost in the course of the story. Never just a war novel, Tanner brings the fight home with his personality and his refusal, regardless of the circumstance, to be ok with everything he must do.

Mr. Pabon narrated excellently, his characters are varied and well voiced. I couldn't have listened to it with another narrator, great job!

Mr. Reynold's steals the show

What did you love best about Prince of Fools?

I loved the main character Prince Jalon, he is not your normal medieval tech level puffed up hero. He is a coward. At least he says he is. His internal monologue is probably one of the most effective means for understanding the world, as well as one of the funniest (while being completely serious) monologues I have ever heard.

What did you like best about this story?

The back and forth between "Jal" and Snorey was my favorite part of the whole thing. Snorey with his matter of fact Norse honor system and his continual mis-interpretation of all the sarcasm that Jal has for him.

Which character – as performed by Tim Gerard Reynolds – was your favorite?

Jal, Mr. Reynolds' inflections were spot on! Made the character come to life, its as if he was really recounting his tale to me. And I found myself laughing at all of his quips. Good writing helps for great narration but there is clearly some natural talent in Mr. Reynolds.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it surely was, too bad time barely ever allows for that.

Any additional comments?

As the title says, Mr. Reynolds steals the show. If I has simply read the book, I don't think Jalon would have sounded nearly as alive, or sarcastic. I loved Reynolds' narration, the book really popped with him reading it. I have read all of the "thorns" arc in the broken empire universe and I thought the characters were just as well written but the way the narration is done here makes them so real. Top marks!

The Tarkin we all knew had to exist

Everything about Tarkin was amazing, from his upbringing, his family dynamics, local and galactic political endeavors, military engagements, and the back and forth between him and Vader...this is Tarkin as he always should've been.

From his ignoble end due to a punk kid and a bunch of small fighters I had always wondered what made Vader listen to him, why was he feared and reviled, and how was he so freaking cool.

This book gives all the answers and leaves you wanting to read Tarkin' s memoirs.

The narration was spot on, very well paced, and the voices were distinguished enough to tell who was soaking very easily.

Definitely a must read/listen
