This book was on my TBR for longer than I’ll admit and the great audio got me to finally read it. Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet by Charlie N. Holmberg is a delightful fantasy well-worth sinking your teeth into. It’s full of mystery as Maire struggles to remember her past and faces down a seeming madman. The list of things I loved about this book is long and includes: magic-infused baked goods, several creative twists, and vivid descriptions that brought the story to life. If you enjoy fantasy, then grab a cupcake and dig into this wonderful story.

I won a copy of In Case You Missed It by Lindsey Kelk and am glad that I did. I don’t know if I would have purchased the audiobook otherwise (which was very well done). I enjoyed this women’s fiction novel. It does contain some mature content and a fair amount of language, but overall it is well written and an enjoyable story. I could relate to Ros and her struggles and enjoyed watching her learn and grow as she returned to her childhood home and confronted ghosts from her past.

I’ve been on a Sariah Wilson book kick lately and am thoroughly enjoying it. Roommaid is my third Sariah Wilson book in a month and it was such a fun read (or listen, since I read the audiobook). Madison is up against some pretty daunting odds (raised in a wealthy home, has little to no life skills), yet her determination to succeed was admirable, even when it led to humorous situations. I also loved Tyler. He’s such a sweetheart, though I would have liked to see a little more of his personality. Yet, I still thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic between Madison and Tyler. They had great chemistry and I loved watching their story unfold.

The Seat Filler by Sariah Wilson was easily 4.5 out of 5 stars for me. I loved this book! It was such a fun, light story filled with humor and chemistry read by an excellent narrator. I loved Juliet. She’s quirky, determined, and hard working. I loved her interactions with Noah. They were filled with humor and fun. I loved Noah. He was so kind and patient with Juliet, helping her overcome her fears and open herself to love. Also, I’m always down for a story with dogs in it. Wilson does celebrity interactions well in this delightful romance and I definitely recommend it to rom com fans who have ever dreamed of meeting their celebrity crush.

Sir Andrew and the Authoress by Sally Britton is a quick, sweet regency read, perfect for fans of Britton’s other novels. Sir Andrew and Lady Josephine have grown up together thanks to Andrew’s friendship with Josephine’s brother. Because of this, the two regularly clash, with Andrew intentionally teasing Josephine to get a rise out of her. I loved this dynamic between the two characters. It was humorous, without going too far. The past relationship between Andrew and Josephine paves the way for them to move from enemies, of a sort, to something more. I found their story cute, though I did feel like the conflict in the story needed a little more development. I also would have loved a bit more about Josephine’s author journey. Yet, I still enjoyed the story and thought the narrator was the perfect choice for bringing the audiobook to life.

*Thank you to Sally Britton for an audiobook copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I first came across The Lost Storyteller by Amanda Block when I wandered into a bookstore in Cambridge. I loved the concept and wanted to see how the story played out. This book was unexpected in so many ways. It’s more general or women’s fiction than my typical read. The main character, Rebecca, comes across as standoffish at times, something that’s completely understandable given her history. As she embarks on a journey to find her father, Rebecca opens herself to parts of her past that she’s done her best to forget. I appreciated how this story was framed though a mix of fairytales and real life and the audiobook did a great job at bringing the different pieces to life. This book had some dark elements, something that fit with the fairytale vibe and the exploration of mental health that was a key component of this book. Overall, it was a well written story filled with the growth that comes only when characters recognize and embrace their full selves.

I think I might have a new favorite book by Sally Britton. Her Unsuitable Match was delightful in so many ways and is 4.5 out of 5 stars for me! First off, it’s marriage of convenience, which is one of my favorite tropes. Add to that a hero (Myles) battling some deep wounds who’s valiant and incredibly kind, a heroine (Philippa) who’s fiercely independent, and conflicts that help them both grow and become more, and you’ve got a regency romance well worth reading. I personally listened to the audiobook and loved how the choice of narrator added to the story. This is definitely a book I’ll be returning to in the future.

I forgot how much I enjoyed A Noble Masquerade by Kristi Ann Hunter until I reread it with Audible. This book is full of humor, romance, and adventure. I loved the characters and getting to read a fresh take on clean regency romance.

I’ve heard so many good things about The Nabob’s Daughter by Jess Heileman and now I get to add my own praise. This book is wonderful! I love regency novels and felt like this book, due to the perspective of a main character who spent most of her life in India, was a refreshing, new take on a genre I enjoy.
Honora Crauford is smart with a kind heart that she does her best to hide. Her charade of acting abominably to get out of a marriage contract in order to return home was entertaining, if a little ridiculous at times. In Graham Whitworth she finds an excellent compliment to her personality, if only she could see it! Graham is determined to save his family’s estate. He’s loyal, kind, and handsome, making him a man I wouldn’t mind meeting in person 😉
I love the rich details that fill this novel. It was a delightful read (technically listen because I read the audiobook) that I can’t recommend enough!
