Fun and heartwarming stories for the whole family
Revisado: 08-13-18
This is a collection of Russian tales and legends, each with a moral incorporated into the story. They have enough depth to be enjoyed by children or adults on different levels, each relating as per their experience and maturity. There is a diversity of styles, and everyone will have a different favorite. My personal favorite was "Dawn," a tale of love and power, with a clever twist ending. I also found "The White Heron" to be mesmerizing, and enjoyed all the others as well. The narrator does a fine job capturing each mood and style, and differentiating the voices very clearly. All in all, a very enjoyable listen for the whole family.

This was a mesmerizing short story with a great payoff at the end. The narration felt like I was listening to a radio play. A short, but satisfying listen.

Masterful Cozy Mystery
Revisado: 12-09-17
This book kept me at the edge of my seat. It is full of humor, fascinating and diverse characters, a bit of romance, and a mystery plot that kept me guessing until the end. Joe Cosentino has a great writing style that draws you into the story and characters; the descriptions bring the people and places to life; the humor and quirky characters keep you entertained; and the story is full of unexpected twists and turns, with surprises revealed throughout. The ending was a big surprise, but the clues were actually there all along, just carefully disguised in the best Agatha Christie style. Derick Snow creates some great voices, and you always know who is speaking. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries, you will love this book.

Great mystery plus a touch of romance
Revisado: 11-28-16
If you could sum up Paper Doll in three words, what would they be?
Intrigue, humor, romance
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jana, of course. She was both strong and vulnerable, and she grows as the story moves along. I look forward to following her adventures in the next Jana Lane mysteries.
What does Charissa Clark Howe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She makes the story clear, with good pacing, emotion, and distinct characters.
Any additional comments?
This story grabbed me from the start, and kept me guessing. Whenever I though I knew who did it, something came up to change my mind, and then I was totally surprised at the end. A very well crafted mystery, great characters, and full of both romance and humor. This is a great listen that you won't want to stop.

Exciting and sexy
Revisado: 11-28-14
What made the experience of listening to To Light The Dragon's Fire the most enjoyable?
Lanie and Terra are strong women, matched with equally strong men. The other characters are also captivating. The evil versus good and the supernatural themes are all very thrilling. The romance is tender and exciting. The story moves along quickly, with constant twists and turns. The narrator does a great job with pacing, characters, and emotions.
Have you listened to any of Fred Wolinsky’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
He always does a great job at distinguishing each character with voice, tone, personality, and accent. He is also good with the narration parts, filling it with emotion and drama.

The adventure continues!
Revisado: 10-31-14
Would you consider the audio edition of The League of Doorways to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version, but there were things in the audio that really brought it to life for me, so I would imagine the audio has even more to offer than the print.
Have you listened to any of Fred Wolinsky’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have heard a few of Fred Wolinsky's books, and they are all good, but this series is the best that I have heard from him. His narration in this book is just as good as Book 1 of the series. He has a clear voice, distinguishes each character with personality as well as voice quality. His narration is full of drama and emotion.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were some funny as well as touching moments, but mostly this book was exciting and fast moving.
Any additional comments?
This continues the adventure from Book 1. It follows many twists and turns, with some real surprises. It leaves us on a cliff-hanger, and I can't wait for Book 3.

A thrilling listen
Revisado: 10-27-14
Where does Doorways rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This was very enjoyable and entertaining.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Doorways?
When William finally reveals his back story, it is both touching and exciting.
What does Fred Wolinsky bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Fred really brings the story to life. He makes each character distinct and alive, and brings a thrilling emotion to the storytelling. I don't think I would have enjoyed the book quite as much by reading it myself. It was thrilling having Fred read it to me. I would like to hear more of his books.
Any additional comments?
This is a fun adventure book, creating a fascinating new world. While it seems geared to young adults, it can be enjoyed by anyone with a sense of adventure who loves to explore new worlds and strange creatures.
