"So I thought I might take up paragliding. You know, buy one on eBay and just jump off the cliff one morning." Emily Willows is middle-aged, widowed, wealthy, and bored. When she makes those flippant remarks to her son over coffee one Friday, she has no inkling that within a few hours she will be facing the most terrifying situation of her life.

Historia
Leaving behind her private forensic pathology practice in Charleston, South Carolina, Kay Scarpetta accepts an assignment in New York City, where the NYPD has asked her to examine an injured man on Bellevue Hospital’s psychiatric prison ward. The handcuffed and chained patient, Oscar Bane, has specifically asked for her, and when she literally has her gloved hands on him, he begins to talk—and the story he has to tell turns out to be one of the most bizarre she has ever heard.

Voices…
Revisado: 04-09-22
I have enjoyed the Scarpetta series. This latest book, with the same narrator as several before made me uncomfortable with the shift in Lucy’s voice, making her sound like one of the male characters. I thought the storyline was good. I didn’t figure out the bad guy until it was revealed, but thought it was plausible due to clues throughout the story!

Turbulent story; bad narration
Revisado: 03-22-22
I have been listening to the entire Scarlett’s series in order, and this recording offered a story full of twists and turns, and emotional story line content. Karen White’s narration was so different from C.J. Critt. Critt made the characters easy to distinguish. White’s narration made Kay sound as if she was on the verge of tears, and there wasn’t much distinction between the various female characters.

Revisado: 01-29-22
I was happy to see this newest Lynsey/Havers novel. From the way the story started to the humor supplied by Barb Havers to the promise of something in the next novel, I was glad to see that the author continues this saga. The narrator is just brilliant!

Wonderful series!
Revisado: 01-14-22
Jeffrey Archer is a brilliant author. His writing caused me to root for certain characters and to feel true disdain for some of the villains throughout the series. I felt totally engrossed in each of the seven books. I was glad that all seven were complete so I could immediately find out the resolution of the cliffhangers at the end of the first six books. A thoroughly impressive series!

Great, but…
Revisado: 12-23-21
I have eagerly awaited the release of this book. I was glad to see the continuation of so many stories and was delighted about the new prominence given to some past characters. My only complaint is that there were two recollections from the characters that were different from the original stories. They did not stop me from greatly enjoying the book. Now I can’t wait until the next one. Also, Davina Porter is a brilliant narrator!

Historia
In Good White Racist, Kerry Connelly exposes the ways white people participate in, benefit from, and unknowingly perpetuate racism - despite their best "good person" intentions. Good White Racist unpacks the systems that maintain the status quo, keep white people comfortable and complicit, and perpetuate racism in the United States. Combining scholarly research with her trademark New Jersey snark, Connelly shows us that even though it may not be our fault or choice to participate in a racist system, we all do, and it's our responsibility to do something about it.

Must read!
Revisado: 12-02-21
I read this book because of implicit bias activities at my job. I would highly recommend this book for all white people who don’t identify themselves as racist. Kerry Connelly uses her faith, data, personal anecdotes, and ripped from the headlines stories to illustrate how someone can be a good white racist.

Dramatic music takes away from flow of story
Revisado: 07-06-21
I love this series of bf books and think the stories are top notch. However, I think the interludes of music are ill-planned. Not only does the music not match the story, but it is sometimes placed in the middle of a scene. It is a little disruptive. But Faye Kellerman is a great author!

I have long been a fan of Jeffrey Archer, having read The Clifton Chronicles years ago. This book was so cleverly written in a way that made it impossible to predict what would happen next.
