Very hit and miss

I really enjoyed a couple of these stories, a couple of them were pretty interesting, then about half of them were just patently stupid or too easy to read what was coming. Its not a total waste of time but be prepared to have your intelligence insulted a couple of times.

Great performance, increasingly strange story

Very different than the first book, way more mystical/fantasy than sci fi. Still interesting enough to keep me in the series.

Great story, decent writing, meh performance

The story overall was very good, cut down to basics of a thriller and proceeding at a breakneck pace. But for a story seemingly designed to cut through all the dross there was a lot of unnecessary repetition and unnecessary verbosity. That issue can mostly be forgiven but the narrator really failed to sell the story. She came across as dull and uninterested with little inflection or emotion as she read the harrowing tale.

Terrible storytelling

The prologue is just awful. An unpleasantly breathy and broken delivery provides an opening to what eventually becomes a poorly written audiodrama with characters constantly exclaiming what other characters are currently doing. The audio sounds like it was recorded in a small unprofessional studio. Had to give up on this dreck about 40 minutes in, and I suggest you avoid even starting it.

A brutal and powerful addition to the series

This entry contains action as good as Golden Son, redeems the dislikable characters from Iron Gold, sets up villains unlike any we've seen before, and consistently punches you right in the emotional gut. It is a brutal and heartbreaking read and I can't wait for the next one.

Poorly written and acted about the same,

Poorly written, with some of the worst metaphors I've ever heard, acting was not great with some very poorly inserted sound effects. Story was also not compelling, very little that happened felt like it had any effect on the greater universe
