Not About Weather
Revisado: 12-06-22
This is absurd. Weather is hardly ever mentioned after the first few chapters. This is a book about gardening, and not even about how weather affects gardening. It’s simply about gardening, and soil and weeds and compost and pests, and all those things that are about gardening.

Maybe it's because it's a memoir, so he's talking about his own life, but his delivery is spot on. As good as any actor that I've heard in my almost 100+ Audible listens. A real gem.

Historia
Bernd Heinrich involves us in his quest to get inside the mind of the raven. But as animals can be spied on only by getting quite close, Heinrich adopts ravens, thereby becoming a "raven father", as well as observing them in their natural habitat. He studies their daily routines and, in the process, paints a vivid picture of the ravens' world. At the heart of this book are Heinrich's love and respect for these complex and engaging creatures, and through his keen observation and analysis we become their intimates, too.

Narrator so old fashioned
Revisado: 06-22-22
The narrator sounded as if he were voicing a 1950s newsreel. Very dated, very stilted.

Historia
To his customers and neighbors on 125th street, Ray Carney is an upstanding salesman of reasonably priced furniture, making a decent life for himself and his family. He and his wife Elizabeth are expecting their second child, and if her parents on Striver's Row don't approve of him or their cramped apartment across from the subway tracks, it's still home. Few people know he descends from a line of uptown hoods and crooks, and that his façade of normalcy has more than a few cracks in it. Cracks that are getting bigger all the time.

Dion Graham Is brilliant. Whitehead’s prose as performed by Graham is a total joy to experience. The story’s a little thin, but I never wanted to stop listening to that voice.

This book is really about everything. Very informative of course, but it’s also like a spiritual manifesto about how to live one’s life.
Stay all the way to the end, there’s a great and very fitting song.

Meditating on notions of captivity and freedom, immigration and flight, Helen invites us into her most intimate experiences: observing the massive migration of songbirds from the top of the Empire State Building.

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?

Be careful of the narrator's pronunciations
Revisado: 02-03-16
Where does Sapiens rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The content is fantastic. Changed my way of thinking. Overall, the reader is good, but beware. At one point, he's talking about a car manufacturer which he pronounced as "Persia." I assumed it was an Iranian company I'd never heard of, but then he'd talk about how it was one of the biggest car companies in the world, and I was totally baffled. Did he mean "Porsche?" Finally, I realized he was trying to say "Peugeot." Where he got the "R" sound from, I have no idea.
