Six days ago, Joe Lynch was a happily married man, a devoted father, and a respected teacher living in a well-to-do London suburb. But that was before he spotted his wife’s car entering a hotel parking garage. Before he saw her in a heated argument with her best friend’s husband. I loved this book. Unfortunately I can't go into all the reasons why I love it without spoiling it, but it definitely kept me hooked the entire way through.

Margot Davies was six at the time, the same age as January—and they were next-door neighbors. In the twenty years since, Margot has grown up, moved away, and become a big-city journalist. But she’s always been haunted by the feeling that it could’ve been her. And the worst part is, January’s killer has never been brought to justice.

I wanted to love it, but I just didnt
Revisado: 09-14-22
What I loved most about this story was how the two timelines were being told, back and forth. I really enjoy that format. The story itself though... it just didn't live up to what I expected. Yes, there were twists and turns, but I usually guessed them before they happened, but I was still interested. Honestly, it was the ending that ruined this for me. I just don't get why the author felt the need to go that direction.
Love Ashley Flowers on her podcast, but this one missed the mark for me.

Interesting
Revisado: 09-12-22
This book kept me interested, for sure. Not a fan of the ending, like literally the last line - it just left me unsettled. I'm sure that was the point, but it wasn't a "whoaaaa" turn, just "...why did the author feel the need to do this?". That's happened a few times recently so I'm a little frustrated, I suppose. otherwise, I enjoyed it.

This was a first-of-its-kind for me. I really enjoyed getting to know the Juliet of every time period, and (without spoiling), and really loved how the story developed towards the end. It's hard to comment more without spoiling anything, but this is definitely one of those books I look forward to coming back around to.

I enjoyed this book! it was a unique setting on a familiar plot, but it took different twists and turns than I saw coming. Easy listen, a couple short graphic parts but nothing I had to fast forward through (I'm very squeamish so that's a common issue for me).

I enjoyed this up until the last couple of chapters. I can't appreciate the ending, it feels too much like I should have been left in a mind-blown feeling, and instead I'm just annoyed.

Revisado: 08-29-22
This was honestly one of my favorites I've listened to on here... it definitely struck a chord with me, as my brother-in-law passed away from stage 4 lung cancer about 10 years ago, and what happened in this story is very similar to what I witnessed with him. I feel like I saw my sister in this - reprioritizing her life because her husband and kids needed her in a way they never had before. A lot of this book was spent on the brink of tears (happy, sad, and overwhelm) because of how well the author conveyed the emotions of both Alexis and Cece. I absolutely loved this.

One size does not fit all
Revisado: 01-21-22
I just adore the author, Cas! The way she speaks through her books is so genuine - she calls herself out for mistakes she’s made in the past, how much of a clutter issue she had in the past, and even for some of her difficulties with this book itself. In addition, she doesn’t prescribe a one-size-fits-all approach. Both of these are key pieces that are missing from “traditional” organizing experts. For people like me who have tried and failed to get clutter under control and implement organizing systems for their entire teen - adult life, we need to know that first of all, the person giving us advice understands. Someone who came out of the womb ready to sort and neatly place everything back where it came from….is not going to understand the struggle I went through, so it’s very unlikely their natural organizing style will be the magic solution for me (at least right off the bat).
Secondly, it’s not one size fits all! We’re told to buy containers. Make things neat. Stack everything just so. And poof! You’re organized….but I’ve always created those systems and end up with a jarbled mess of items in whatever bin is most accessible.
Cas gets it, and explains why these detailed, tedious systems don’t work for everyone. This was a great mix of organizing solutions, decluttering motivation, and household management tips.

Mind…blown
Revisado: 01-19-22
I am in shock right now. Can this book come with a psychologist visit?
I score 100% as a butterfly on the Clutterbug quiz. There are several questions I would like to select multiple answers, but 100% of the time, I would choose the butterfly answer. However, the traits never made sense for me - Cas describes butterflies as usually being carefree & creative - but I’m a high stress & anxiety-ridden accountant 🤣 “carefree” and “creative” just aren’t words I would ever use to describe myself.
As I listened to the entire book, I gasped with each section…I currently live like a butterfly. I collect & see value like a bee, making it next to impossible to get rid of anything. At work I’m a combination bee & ladybug (which makes no sense as they’re opposites, but basically I work like a bee and “tidy up” like a ladybug)…but the major lightbulb moment came when listening to the cricket section. In the past, I’ve tried and failed so many times at organizing because I tried to do so many micro piles. I live with piles, and I know what’s in each pile, and where in the pile it is. I HATE feeling incompetent, or thinking someone else may see me that way. These are all traits of crickets. So now I’m wondering if I’ve tried & failed and felt incompetent so much that I literally reverted to the complete opposite?! Due to the sheer amount of stuff I have, I think it might be possible. There was literally no way to categorize anything the way I wanted so everything’s a jumbled mess.
I’m still in the massive decluttering stage so I haven’t worked on implementing much organization yet. I’ll start as a butterfly, but I’m SO curious to see if, over time and as I’m feeling confident in myself, I slowly migrate towards cricket tendencies. Crazy!
So yes. Please listen to this book. This is one I will probably end up buying the hard copy of for reference. My only complaint is the narration - not to down the narrator (she’s great!), but I watch Cas on YouTube and it just felt wrong to be hearing her words without her voice attached 😂

Perfectly early pandemic, and perfectly RK & Savy
Revisado: 11-22-21
I loved this book! This was a fast, easy listen, and very easy to get wrapped up in the story. The energy & culture of the early days of the pandemic were captured really well, which brought this story alive for me.
What I also loved is that I could absolutely tell this was written by these specific authors. If you came across this book by chance, the authors host the Your Morning Guru YouTube morning show together, and they complement each other so well. This story felt like an extension of their show - I’m not sure if that makes sense, but it’s the best way I can describe it. I’ve only been watching the show for a few months so I wasn’t around when they wrote it, but apparently they wrote it, (not sure if all, or just parts of it), while on the livestreams - this has made me want to go back and see them in the creative stage!
Also throwing out a compliment to the narrator here - love his voice!
