Interactions between Alan and Dan are superb and often elicited chuckles from me. Mystery was interesting and heartrending. Altogether an enjoyable and worthwhile listen! I am going on to the next book in the series straightaway.

Thanks for all the hard work and time you've put in for your readers' enjoyment! Blessings! You know that we anxiously await the next installment!

EXCELLENT
Revisado: 11-10-23
I was glued to the storyline overall but very attached to Silvestre, Stay, and Clara most of all. They were the ones attached to the lighthouse and the fate of it. This book really touched me deeply. Lives are fleeting, and so little of them can be remembered by history even if journals are left behind!

Historia
Thirty miles off the coast of San Francisco lie the Farallon Islands, known to sailors as the Devil’s Teeth. Despite their fearsome reputation, their remote nature appeals to young Lucy Riley, who in 1859 seeks a new start as a teacher to the lighthouse keepers’ children. But Lucy brings treacherous secrets with her, including a name that isn’t hers and a past she can’t escape. On the island, she meets Will Sisson, a mysterious man who seems to recognize her name—but not her face. Wary of Will at first, Lucy slowly starts to trust him.

FASCINATING
Revisado: 11-06-23
Enjoyed this immensely! Never dull or predictable. Often frankly scary in a way that places you in the action with the protagonists. I really cared about what happened to every character. Classic gothic of the very best kind! Anxiously looking forward to Ms. Wheeler's next book!

Historia
Honoring the wish of her late grandmother, Maura Donovan visits the small Irish village where her Gran was born-though she never expected to get bogged down in a murder mystery. Nor had she planned to take a job in one of the local pubs, but she finds herself excited to get to know the people who knew her Gran. In the pub, she's swamped with drink orders as everyone in town gathers to talk about the recent discovery of a nearly 100-year-old body in a nearby bog.

Excellent! I adore forays into other times and seldom enjoy books or movies set in the present day. Mr. Brown has created a family in my grandparents' day I enjoy visiting with! Bravo! This is a great book with lovable characters and a great mystery. I know I will enjoy visiting with them again!

Excellent! Both the story and the reading of this were excellent. The crumbling edifice and the people inside were compelling and I heavily identified with the heroine myself most of the time. Ms. Whelan did an amazing job with the reading! Never once is her tone wrong for this atmospheric tale. Just excellent.

I sincerely hope she doesn't desert this series for her new one. This is my favorite historical period. Inspector Lavender and Constable Woods cannot be abandoned!
