Historia
Tough, cynical PI Sam Spade is hired by the story's irresistible femme fatale, Brigid O'Shaughnessy, to locate the client's sister by tailing her companion. Spade's partner, Miles Archer, takes on the assignment, and quickly both he and the man he was shadowing are murdered. As Spade pursues the mystery of his partner's death, he is drawn into a circle of colorful characters - all of them after a legendary statuette of a falcon fashioned long ago for King Charles of Spain.

THE MALTESE FALCON
Revisado: 10-22-22
The Maltese Falcon: a bust.
The most boring version I've ever heard.
I had to increase the speed just to make a great story listenable.

Historia
Here's Mickey Spillane and Mike Hammer in their roughest and readiest—a double-strength shot of sex, violence, and action that is vintage Spillane all the way. It's a tough-guy mystery to please even the most bloodthirsty of fans!

narrator is no Stacey Keach

I guess I'm spoiled by Stacey Keach but the narrator is no Mike Hammer. sounds like a high school kid reading aloud.

Historia
In this follow-up to her acclaimed 2007 novel The Bastard of Istanbul, Turkish author Elif Shafak unfolds two tantalizing parallel narratives---one contemporary and the other set in the 13th century, when Rumi encountered his spiritual mentor, the whirling dervish known as Shams of Tabriz---that together incarnate the poet's timeless message of love.

Historia
An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

Wonderful follow up

Loved that we get to see a more complete Atticus and not just Gregory Peck in a white suit. I liked Atticus 1 more, but this new view seems more realistic for someone in Maycomb in the 50's-60's. Thanks Scout.

Historia
It is the most famous military installation in the world. And it doesn't exist. Located a mere s75 miles outside of Las Vegas in Nevada's desert, the base has never been acknowledged by the US government - but Area 51 has captivated imaginations for decades. Annie Jacobsen had exclusive access to 19 men who served the base proudly and secretly for decades and are now aged 75-92, and unprecedented access to 55 additional military and intelligence personnel, scientists, pilots, and engineers linked to the secret base, 32 of whom lived and worked there for extended periods.

Fantastic!
Revisado: 05-23-11
Having read most of the conspiracy stuff and hung with a lot of the conspiracy folks, I can tell you that Annie Jacobsen's narrative is much more frightening than any fabricated paranoia might be. The research for and rendition of her book is superb....although you might become even more paranoid. :-)
