Historia
Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She's made a mistake so huge, it'll wreck any chance of a partnership. Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she's mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they've hired a lawyer - and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can't sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open.

How can you ever beat the shopaholic series?
Revisado: 08-19-05
Maybe I've set myself up for disappointment, but I compare all her books to the Shopaholic and they come up a bit short. I was going to give this book a three but it's actually a 3.5 so I went to a 4.
Anyway, a very busy girl with no pretensions, or maybe she is just in shock, leaves a high profile, high stress career behind after making a 'mistake' and becomes a 'domestic'. Her new employers do not seem notice that she isn't very good at her job (they're overjoyed that she speaks english),and she does not mind catering to a boss who treats her with, by turns, pity condescension and kindness. She learns a life lesson. She changes her life and starts anew with a new man. believable - no, light entertainment - yes.

Historia
Sofie's a young Greek American woman living in Queens. If you'd asked her a few months ago what she'd be doing now, she'd have replied, "I'm going to be married to a wonderful guy and working at my father's Greek restaurant." That was before Sofie caught the groom in a compromising position with her maid of honor. Before she punched the priest who tried to get her to marry the cad anyway. Before she chucked her engagement ring into the garbage disposal. Before she became a junior detective for her uncle's detective agency.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding pulls in Ms. Plum
Revisado: 08-19-05
I too found that this author mimics the Plum novels, even giving them a shout out during her novel. She also added a healthy dose of Greek family life a la My big fat greek wedding. The core mystery was a bit thin and maybe I zoned out and missed it (not one you feel compelled to listen to carefully) but whatever happened to Grandpas war medal? She got sidetracked and never finished that story line, maybe it will be in the next book?
Anyway, it's a nice light listen, but if you haven't read the Plum series, I suggest you start there instead.

truth is stranger than fiction....
Revisado: 04-17-05
This is a very enertaining read. Easy to listen to, well narrated and well written. How anyone can live to tell of such a childhood is beyond me. I recommend this for the listener who may have come off of a 'difficult' audio (by difficult I mean something that you have to listen to with a lot of focus or you may miss something) and wants something to breeze through. May not be for everyone because the content can be a little off-putting. (Immoral doctors, childhood sexuality, parents who abandon their kids....)
