Great female perspective of the revolution in France

I did not find this book confusing as others did. I felt it was informative and well produced. The narration was very good.

Great read
Revisado: 02-24-23
I would’ve given the performance 5 stars but for the narration of the sections in America. This narrators annoying rythm and over dramatic way of speaking was hard to take.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

The narrator speaks as though she were a school teacher reading to children. And her voice intonations in her “man” voice was almost intolerable. Story itself was quite predictable. I usually love this genre but not this one.

Narration was awful
Revisado: 08-01-21
The narrator of this book spoiled it. She speaks too slow and with a repetitive cadence that is hard to take. Such a disappointment after the wonderful narration of book 1.

Disappointing ending
Revisado: 04-01-21
I loved this book but found the ending to be ridiculous and dissatisfying. Ms Gregory could have done much better. It was if she was in a hurry to wrap it up.

Hard to believe Megan didnt write this herself. Sickeningly sappy depiction of her and Harry. No way this was written by their press corps without the Sussexes input.

Historia
Her palace shimmered with onyx, garnets, and gold, but was richer still in political and sexual intrigue. Above all else, Cleopatra was a shrewd strategist and an ingenious negotiator. Though her life spanned fewer than forty years, it reshaped the contours of the ancient world. She was married twice, each time to a brother. She waged a brutal civil war against the first when both were teenagers. She poisoned the second. In a masterly return to the classical sources, Stacy Schiff here boldly separates fact from fiction to rescue the magnetic queen whose death ushered in a new world order.

Boring but complete historically
Revisado: 10-26-20
I was expecting a historical novel but instead got a documentary. Tiresome but at the same time very informative. I learned a lot but feel historical fiction could have taught the same information in a more interesting way.

But lavish parties greet her in Paris, and at the extravagant French court, she finds many rivals for her husband’s affection....
