it angered me to listen
Revisado: 05-19-18
I could go on and on pointing out all that's wrong with this book. Suffice it to say, there's nothing right about it. It's basically a scam (I should have known by the cover). He says you'll need a computer to visit your website. That's about the only true statement he made in the book. Everything else is wrong as in incorrect. Dude knows nothing. He rambles on and on about nothing, and the narrator is equally terrible. The other reviews are definitely bogus. It angered me to listen. I will return this right now.

Unhelpful unless you're already latin grammar phd
Revisado: 12-26-17
Would you try another book from Lucia Bodas and/or Lucia Bodas?
No, I would not. The book is totally disconnected from reality of what it takes to teach even intermediate learners. I say this having had 3 semesters of college Spanish and being married to a Chilean for 7 years who speaks Spanish around me often. The book does not explain verb tenses at all. Don't already know the definition of imperfect preterite? How about simple perfect preterite? If not, expect to stop the audio to Google every thirty seconds. And good luck with that because apparently preterite and imperfect are different things, for instance. So unless you're already a Spanish speaker or for whatever reason have a PhD in Latin grammar, this book will frustrate you to no end.
Would you ever listen to anything by Lucia Bodas again?
This question is basically same as above. See above.
What aspect of Lucia Bodas’s performance would you have changed?
Explain the parts of speech so English speakers know wtf you're talking about. And do it in English for the sake of clarity. We don't have so many silly unnecessary tenses in English, so don't assume we totally get how they're used and why they even exist. In the spirit of ranting, this same sort of thing is what frustrates the bejeezes out of me with most Spanish learning tools. I've been trying to master conjugations for some time now and seem to always be stymied by instructors' lack of perspective.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
1 part frustration, 1 part discouragement, 1 part disappointment, 3 dashes of anger
Any additional comments?

What do Starbucks and JetBlue and KrispyKreme and Apple and DutchBoy and Kensington and Zespri and Hard Candy have that you don't? How do they continue to confound critics and achieve spectacular growth, leaving behind former tried-and true brands to gasp their last? Face it, the checklist of tired P's marketers have used for decades to get their product noticed - Pricing, Promotion, Publicity, to name a few - aren't working anymore.

Useful for people with zero common sense
Revisado: 02-23-17
What disappointed you about Purple Cow?
Bought this based on other authors' enthusiastic cult-like endorsement of this book. I finally broke down and bought it despite it's high price relative to length. I'm disappointed--no clue why others prothesize it so much. It's all common sense. The message is "be remarkable--not common--because remarkable is what sells" (duh). He explains how this works: "Early adopters get excited about remarkable products and 'sneeze' it at others, thus 'infecting' them with enthusiasm, which snowballs into more sales" (disgusting analogy... another 'duh' axiom).
Has Purple Cow turned you off from other books in this genre?
Kind of. I do like this genre, but I seem to be in the minority in that I'm not impressed with this author's work based on the two audiobooks of his I've listened to. I'll be more careful to read negative reviews before popping on books in this genre in the future.
Did Seth Godin do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Does not apply.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment for reasons already explained. Also, puzzled as to why others think this stuff is so profound.

weaksauce content, annoying delivery
Revisado: 11-26-16
What disappointed you about Business for Authors. How to Be an Author Entrepreneur?
nothing new here. 6+ hours of:
-if you want to build a writing business, treat it like a business.
-hire cheap labor to do the work
-my life is awesome, and i'm wonderful!
Would you ever listen to anything by Joanna Penn again?
no, i would not.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
thick british accent is extremely annoying/distracting. she can't properly pronounce certain words, and she seems to revel in saying those words because she says them a lot. for example, it's "book cover" (with an "r"), not "book cuvahh.'" .
What character would you cut from Business for Authors. How to Be an Author Entrepreneur?
minimize the "joanna penn" character. she should refrain from citing how wonderful, worldly, bubbly, happy, and 'free' she is. made me want to puke--also very distracting.
Any additional comments?
penn should also hire voiceover talent. she's not "it." why she doesn't hire cheap labor for the voiceover stuff like she apparently does for most everything else is beyond me. if she absolutely insists on doing it herself, she should stop trying so hard to sound bubbly and happy. it's obvious that she's trying to smile while speaking through the whole thing--a good approach for short phone interviews for jobs, but very annoying for a 6+ hour audiobook.
furthermore, she should not mention the fact that she rents her furniture instead of buying. it's weird.

Would you try another book from Monica Leonelle and/or Cindy Piller?
no. this book should have been titled "how to market my book for me because i trick you into giving my book shout-outs on every social media platform imaginable."
Would you ever listen to anything by Monica Leonelle again?
no. i grew weary of hearing "if you want me to know how you're doing with your writing, just go on facebook, twitter, pinterest, jdate, grinder, craigslist, etc. and hashtag '8 minute writing habit' every chance you get" every 4 minutes.
What aspect of Cindy Piller’s performance would you have changed?
none. i have no opinion of the narration itself. i guess she did a fine job. it's the book content that is pedestrian.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The 8-Minute Writing Habit?
i would have cut all but one of the many of the authors 'calls to action' for readers to hashtag 8 minute writing habit in every social media platform under the sun. it's a thinly veiled attempt to get readers to make this subpar book 'go viral.' i'd recommend the author write a better book and hope for it to go viral based on its own merits.

Common sense vague advice for the most part. A couple of decent points. Was very generous in giving two stars for 'story.'
Production value is absolutely abysmal. Randomly repeats phrases--not intentionally to make a point--randomly like je didnt know how to use audio equipment. Would think that a < 1 hr audiobook could be listened to for editing, but that was apparently too much work. Makes no sense to me... Just laziness?
I guess its basically what youd expect from $2 audiobook.

Learning how to write a book is easy. Learning how to write a book that doesn't suck and can actually make you money - and set you up for a full-time writing career is harder.
But it's nowhere near impossible. And it's far more doable than you can imagine. The trouble is, most books offering tips on how to write a book fail to address two key considersations: 1) Most self-published nonfiction books suck. 2) It's almost impossible to make a living from one self-published nonfiction book.

Wallace D. Wattles was an American "New Thought" writer who wrote this amazing little book in 1910. It caused a sensation then, and continues to be popular today. In fact, Rhonda Byrne said that part of her inspriation for her best-selling book and film The Secret came from this book.

OMG... where do I begin??
Revisado: 06-08-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
This book might have received a higher rating if...- It wasn't just a series of vague statements, i.e., "everyone can get rich, but only if they do things in a certain way." - It wasn't nonsense Christian propaganda, i.e., "God wants you to be rich so that you can blah blah blah..." (basically U.S. culture's protestant work ethic philosophy from the turn of the 20th century... see Max Weber's book on the spirit of capitalism, if interested)- It wasn't full of preposterous claims and exaggerations, i.e., "The science of getting rich is an EXACT SCIENCE... I can PROVE that what I'm saying IS true if only one person follows my advice and becomes rich." <--Absurd.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I don't know. Probably not another $1 audiobook by some propagandist bozo from 1910.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jim Roberts?
Morgan Freeman, of course.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No; none whatsoever. Even if it was 1910, any half-wit SHOULD recognize that this book is complete hogwash.
Any additional comments?
Yes. WHY IS THIS BOOK SO HIGHLY RATED!? I have to assume that some rascal orchestrated an elaborate conspiracy to make this book so highly rated, thus tricking the unsuspecting customer into purchasing the worst book of all time. Well played, anonymous prankster, well played.
