Historia
Corporate flameout Ned Altimer dreams of leaving his world behind. So, when Earthblood Online splashes onto the VRMMO scene, he dives in and never looks back. His advantages are twofold: exclusive access to the game’s three-day Head Start period, and a ridiculously handsome talking axe named Frank who has knowledge of the game’s deepest secrets...if the magnificent Frank ever feels like sharing them.

I don't get all the 5 stars. (Updated: got better)
Revisado: 03-14-21
Update:
After the first 8 hrs, I actually quit listening to it, because I didn't understand all the hype and the MC and Frank were annoying me. A couple of days later I picked it up and gave it another try. I'm glad I did. The story, the MC, and the interaction with Frank th Axe got a lot better and understand everyone who says it is a more "realistic" betrayal of the MMO's we all play (or used to in my case). Kyle has a really good base for a strong series, and hope that the next book continues to build off the strength of the 2nd half of this book.
I am 8 hrs in and don't see what all the hype is about.
Guy buys his way to a 3 day head start in a new MMO game. He's not an elite gamer and has proven incompetence IRL and has no friends. Not even clan/guildies from previous games and thinks he's going to make changes in a new MMO world? Once MC gets in the game he shows he's not really a good gamer and makes stupid decisions without any thought.
At lvl 5 with 60cp in his pocket he thinks he's going to build an Inn in a desert town with an entire race trying to kill him. The back and forth between the MC and Frank, his axe, isn't entertaining or funny. It's kind of stupid actually. Frank doesn't add any real help or guidance. Plus he has to protect this magical axe from the entire population of EBO when they come online. In any real online game the MC will have this axe taken from him within 10-12 hours of the game opening to the public.
I just don't understand all the 5 star reviews and claims of this being one of the best books in this genre. It's mediocre at best.

The apocalypse will be televised! You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat. And you know what’s worse than that? An alien invasion, the destruction of all man-made structures on Earth, and the systematic exploitation of all the survivors for a sadistic intergalactic game show. That’s what. Join Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they try to survive the end of the world—or just get to the next level—in a video game–like, trap-filled fantasy dungeon.

nice change of pace
Revisado: 03-13-21
it has been quite awhile since I have listened to am audio book in a single day. this was a nice change of pace from the seemingly cut and paste books in the post apocalyptic/fantasy/LitRPG genre books I've listened to lately. Though it's not an entirely new concept, it is written with a competent MC, no forced humor, overly sappy characters, gushy love story, or some social-political agenda. Carl's not bad either.
it was good to be able to sit and listen to a story that just entertains.

Historia
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

overall really good but...
Revisado: 11-18-20
I do have to start with the fact that the main story is really good and I enjoyed it and will purchase the next book. yup it's coming...... BUT.... two minor issues.
First is Cecilia's complete inappropriateness at times- just fawning over her 'master' in a room full of people. I get it she's a succubus, and some of it is to be expected. however some of it seemed force and the MC needed to have a talk with her about time and place. of course this is leading to a harem theme and more unnecessary and unrealistic sex scenes.
Second is the narrator's. both Daniel and Jessica are really good, but I fell they are slightly overly energetic in their readings. especially jessica. I can hear jessica taking in these deep breathes so she can emote the next lines and I somewhat inwardly cringe. I assume she has done a lot of stage work and is used to have to dig down and over emote to get her voice and emotion felt by the person(s) sitting in the very back row. here you are literally inches away from the mic just turn it down you 8 to a 7. daniel gets carried away, but not as often. he's good at keeping at a lvl 7; every so often he'll push the 8 range.
I'm off to pick up book 2 but I am a little apprehensive about the growing harem theme.

good not great
Revisado: 06-05-20
not the best in the series but still enjoyable. (small spoiler?) this is the one where the hero goes off to train so he learns the forbidden/hidden secrets that no one else knows and becomes 'god like' to all the squishy 'lessers'. every cultivating series has this so it's not that big of a deal. I just start zoning out when the long discussions of how the advanced mana use works and why lessers can't do such and such and are stuck at the lowly white cores.... ad nauseum... However, TurtleMe does a good job with the teachers/mentors and doesn't spend too much time on theory. I am looking forward to the next in the series for sure

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

It was looking like Lady Luck had quite a grudge against him. In fact, at this point merely crashing the multi-billion-dollar ship he had helped design would have felt like winning the lottery compared to his current dilemma. If only he were so lucky. Things had started off all right - that is, until a freak wormhole unexpectedly swallowed his ship, leaving him stranded on an unknown planet far, far from home.

Historia
The Beginning After the End: Publisher's Pack 2 contains books 3 and 4 of The Beginning After the End series, Beckoning Fates and Horizon's Edge. Though Arthur Leywin would like nothing more than to pursue his studies at the esteemed Xyrus Academy, where he hopes to push his already potent magical abilities to new plateaus and perhaps discover something more about his reincarnation into this world, he finds the politics of the school’s halls even more challenging to navigate than those of the council chambers he once inhabited as King Grey.

Revisado: 04-10-20
If you enjoyed the 1st 2 then you'll probably enjoy these as well. The books were fun and enjoyable all the way up to the last couple chapters in book 4. I agree with the reviews (not as fiercely) that book 4 was filled with a lot of cheap tricks and TurtleMe tried to hard the finally of the MC saving the day and the cliffhanger. I honestly and truly hate cliffhanger ending to a book. Which, let's be honest, was really made no sense whatsoever. More than being on the edge of my seat and getting excited about what's next I just rolled my eyes. TurtleMe gets a pass on the ending of book 4 because the previous 3 books were really good. I have no regerts pre-ordering these books and will pre-order the next in the series, but he does have to step his game back up to recover from books 4's weak sauce ending.

Historia
I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room - the royal bed-chamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how? King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic.

Glad they put this as a Publishers Pack
Revisado: 12-19-19
So far it is fantastic. The reason I am glad they did this as a Publishers Pack is I don't buy books less than 10 hrs long, especially series books. It's a personal thing, but I don't feel like I get the value for my $$/credit. I absolutely would have missed on this gem otherwise.
I will definitely be keeping a look out for the continuation of the series

After an instant or an eternity, he awakens on a lower realm! The air is filled with garbage energy, and his emotions of all things are allowing him to control it. For a cultivator that has spent his existence absolutely controlling his thoughts...that won’t do at all.
