Great Story
Revisado: 09-21-24
I enjoyed this book. The only issue I have with it is some of the language. Authors, writers in general, are capable of creating outstanding characters without them using foul language. The story is unique to the fantasy genre, which is refreshing.

Series?! Where's book 2?
Revisado: 09-12-24
I listen to a variety of books from fantasy to historical fiction and nonfiction, end of the world survivalist series, Christian-based literature from novels to The Bible. This book was mostly predictable in plot, theme, characters, etc, and still I recommend it. Waiting on book 2 now!

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

Good story, too much profanity
Revisado: 01-18-23
I enjoy where Jodi Picoult takes her stories, the twists and intricacies, and all of her novels are good. My Sister's Keeper is still a favorite, but a few of her novels since then escalated the use of profanity. A good story might have profanity, but a great story does not need it for expression.

Hearing the story of Mila from Quinn and read by Saskia has been a privilege. The way she is described, her character, I would consider her to be a great person to know and likely a good friend. The fact that it's a true story about a female heroine is satisfying; you'll feel honored to know her story.

A gripping historical novel that tells the little-known story of Jewish refugees who fled to Shanghai during WWII. 1939: Two young girls meet in Shanghai, also known as the “Paris of the East”. Historia
I was 12 when I promised Solo that I would one day marry him. Maybe I would have if he hadn't gotten impatient and ruined everything that summer when I was 15. For the last seven years I've replaced the love I once felt for him with anger over his almost getting me killed. Willow, a talented Motlander dancer, goes on tour in the Northlands. What should have been a chance for a new beginning brings her face to face with her traumatic past when Solo, a mountain of a man and the fiercest warrior of his generation, is put in charge of her safety against her will.

Trauma Rewrites Our Narratives
Revisado: 07-31-20
I've read several reviews concerning this book and was curious by the mud slinging of the character Willow. So far this author has perfected different personalities and relationship types. This book is no different. Taking a relationship from a youthful love through trauma and then bringing them back together years later was a nice twist to the usual stories in this series. Many have written that they do not like and even hate Willow. To be honest, the author did a really good job portraying how the mind of an impressionable girl can take pieces of a memory after TBI (HEAD TRAUMA PEOPLE), coupled with all the anger and hostility of those with her after the event PLUS years of conditioning to get to the point where she is scared of Solo. She still has feelings for him and many questions; her gut instinct is that her heart is telling her the truth. With years of trying to fill in the gaps and being pressured to stay away and avoid the dangerous man who stole her from her brother, she is confused and convinced her irrational feelings are the result of something much worse. For anyone who has experienced trauma, especially as a child, should understand what her mind plus others words have done to her. She has anxiety attacks because her memories are ones put together into her mind by the stories she has been told. We all know stories get exaggerated, even more so when someone who did not experience it is the one retelling it. There shouldn't be hate for this character, but understanding, empathy and the hope that she can heal her broken soul.
