perfection
Revisado: 02-20-25
Everything about this book was pure perfection: the slow burn, the plot, the characters, even the narration. This is going down as my favorite read this year, and it will be hard to beat. It was the perfect length; it was neither dragged out nor rushed. Chef's kiss.

WTF IS THIS WRITING?
Revisado: 10-25-24
This story was so cringe from the start and how quickly these characters moved was just unrealistic to be comfortably consumed... I truly felt like maybe I accidentally skipped a few pages. This got a big fat DNF at Chapter 7.
Anyone who rated this more than a 3, your mom's a hoe. I can't believe I wasted money on this one.

Historia
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

This just didn't work for me...
Revisado: 10-12-24
First, I need to get this off my chest... the narrator was TERRIBLE at voicing the males. She made her brother sound like he was talking with his teeth stuck together and Devin sound like he was plugging his nose while he spoke. It was hard to listen to..
Now on to the plot... the FMC, Ashley, has major problems with the smallest "inconveniences" and it's extremely unrelatable. I'd say that maybe that's just a "me" thing but I don't think it is. She's supposed to be a 30 year old woman but has the emotional maturity of a teenager at best.
Secondly, take this one with a grain of salt considering I'm not the right color to adequately speak on this, but her relationship with her parents and the rule they have set for her due to her ethnicity make this story seem like it was written about a teen and after the story was finished she went back in and changed her age to 30. It was just odd that her parents told her what to do, if she could date, had to ask for permission to leave her house at night, ect. Incidents like those is what made it feel like I was reading about a teenager rather than a whole adult..
Overall it just didn't hit. There were too many contradicting plots where one minute Ash was "too selfless" and in other parts seemed like she actually didn't give a damn about anyone. Her "growth" throughout the book was written very messily. This story has potential but would do better with more editing, more thought, and a MUCH better narrator...
also, I believe chapter 6 and 7 are the exact same chapter...

Historia
My fate is bonded to two princes—one born of blood, the other of power—but my trust lies in neither. My skin is cursed by the stars, my fate damned by desire. When the dark prince offers me a bargain that will save his people and my life, the cruel and intoxicating male gives me no choice. Our union is his revenge, and I am his sacrifice. His lies are unforgivable. His wicked touch still bathes me in sin. He is my mate, and he is tortured by a curse to protect his people from his own family.

Historia
I am told my union to the crowned prince will determine the fate of the kingdom, but it isn’t my betrothed who haunts my dreams. It’s the half-breed prince who stands at his side. He is darkness and sin, and when he whispers promises of wickedness in my ear, I crave a man who I can’t have. Every thought I have is treasonous. The way my hands ache to touch him deceitful. Even my dreams make me a traitor to the kingdom I am sworn to protect. But when the kingdom is attacked, I am forced to make choices I’m not prepared for.

Could've been written better.
Revisado: 05-15-24
Honestly it's a good story overall, but the writing is so bad. So much cringe, not enough story. There's no depth to it. One chapter in, after one meeting, someone's already in their feelings over the other? No wayyyy. I could've written this better when I was in junior high.

Surprisingly meh
Revisado: 12-22-22
I was honestly shocked how lackluster this story was considering I LOVE the authors other books. This was not a bad story, it just wasn’t exciting and was pretty predictable.
