Intriguing, but overall not my cup of tea
Revisado: 10-07-22
Love them or hate them, the prequels introduced politics into Star Wars and this novel goes all in. The author of this book had the impossible task of trying to retroactively weave Palpatine and Plagueis into the already existing material of the movies and honestly I think he could have done a lot better if this was a trilogy of books with all the details that were only briefly touched on. There are far too many instances in this book where there is a time hop and then shortly after there is a very long recap of what happened in the time hop and if that's not enough sometimes even key characters are introduced in the recaps. I definitely would have preferred more of a story structure similar to the Bane Saga.

Not a bad abridgement!
Revisado: 10-03-22
The audiobooks for Corellian Trilogy as a whole are actually pretty decent. Obviously I would have preferred unabridged versions and would still very likely purchase them if they were released but these audiobooks weren't that bad.
For this story in particular, I would have appreciated more content from the actual showdown at Centerpoint (you know, the battle describing the title of the book!) but at least it hit the important bits.

Mixed feelings
Revisado: 10-03-22
First off, this is a huge improvement to previous Anthony Heald abridgements, the guy is a pretty good reader when he's actually given some good material. If you're comparing ANY narrator to Marc Thompson or Johnathan Davis you will be disappointed!
As for the audiobook itself, this middle entry of the Corellian Trilogy could have easily used an extra hour or hour and a half to the abridgement. I've never read the book for myself but I could very easily tell there was quite a bit of setup missing from this audiobook that I would have appreciated. Most of the abridged Star Wars books I have read so far are somewhere in the range of 3 hours so I'm thinking it is a restriction that was placed on them, if it was extended to maybe 4 and a half hours I think there would be some major improvements.

Historia
The second novel set in the Old Republic era and based on the massively multiplayer online game Star Wars: The Old Republic ramps up the action and brings listeners face-to-face for the first time with a Sith warrior to rival the most sinister of the Order’s Dark Lords: Darth Malgus, the mysterious, masked Sith of the wildly popular “Deceived” and “Hope” game trailers. Malgus brought down the Jedi Temple on Coruscant in a brutal assault that shocked the galaxy....

Excellent performance, characters were just okay
Revisado: 10-03-22
Performance by Marc Thompson is as amazing as ever as well as all the music and sound effects. Maybe it's just me but the vast majority of the characters in this story weren't that interesting to me.
The best character was definitely Malgus however there really wasn't anything new since I have already read my share of Vader and Bane stories who have similar motivations and traits and are in better plots. I have a hard time even remembering the names of the two other main characters despite finishing the book a week ago.
Still worth a listen though because of Marc Thompson's performance!

Anthony Heald does a decent job here especially when compared to previous audiobooks I've listened to that he read. The abridgement is acceptable, obviously I would rather the full book though

Horribly chopped up and borderline unintelligible
Revisado: 08-26-22
These abridged versions of Star Wars books can be very hard to follow, this one in particular is incredibly difficult to follow in the second half because that is when all the new stuff happens that was not covered in the Jedi Academy books. It's obnoxious for someone that has never read the book.

Mediocre narrator, butchered story
Revisado: 07-17-22
A lot of reviews say that Anthony Heald is a really bad narrator, but I'd imagine that is because they are comparing it to the unmatched performances of Johnathan Davis and of course Marc Thompson. Heald is honestly very average and does a decent job with the material he's given (which Star Wars fans should be used to).
The worst part of this is how hacked up the story is, and this is coming from someone who has never read the whole book. If you have read this book in its entirety, I would say don't waste your time. Otherwise, it's a decent thing to listen to if you are between books and look at it as a movie adaptation.

Thompson and Zahn are the best combination
Revisado: 06-12-22
There's something incredible about Marc Thompson reading Timothy Zahn's writing, especially in this book. I was absolutely enthralled during the many key moments of the legends timeline in this entire Trilogy but obviously most of the key ones are in this last book. Bravo
