Historia
A grisly book dedicated to the crimes, perversions and outrages of Victorian England, covering high-profile offences - such as the murder of actor William Terriss, whose stabbing at the stage door of the Adelphi Theatre in 1897 filled the front pages for many weeks - as well as lesser-known transgressions that scandalised the Victorian era. The tales include murders and violent crimes but also feature scandals that merely amused the Victorians.

Great book!

This is an entertaining book and well narrated. I took off a star for performance because the British narrator read all the American quotes with a strange southern accent.

The stories are charming and well chosen but the narration was very flat. Words were mispronounced which got on my nerves and I stopped listening

Historia
Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption. Alongside local detective Culley, Catriona’s search for her father’s killer leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride and the power of her deadly kiss. The Darkwater Bride combines the genres of the Victorian mystery thriller with the equally classic Victorian mode of the ghostly tale.

Awful annoying acting
Revisado: 04-19-19
I had to stop listening because the heroine kept going back into her obvious American accent, and had all the range of a paper bag. The story seemed interesting and all the other voice actors were great. But the creepy atmosphere disappeared whenever the heroine spoke, and as she is narrating the story in a dreadful Scottish accent, and in monotone, the story just became annoying. Too bad for it really seemed a good Gothic type mystery.
