This writing is not up to Michael J. Sullivan's usual work. He spent far too much time on the personal Existential crises of the various characters and not nearly enough of the core of the story. He missed a perfect opportunity to flesh out the story of the highly trained human regiment and their founder, who was a pivotal figure in the books. Why was it so important to teach the fighting methods to the children of the members of this regiment? It was important enough that the teaching persisted for 1000 years, far more important than the mommy issues of a marginal figure in the story. And yet almost nothing was presented about this very important regiment.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Wound of the World to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version so I could not say

What did you like best about this story?

The escapades of Galand and Blays continue to be a fun tail. There is excitement, action and humor as the two create world changing events and make wise cracks across the globe.

What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Reynolds understands the characters and their senses of adventure and humor. His voice range is excellent and he is able to create a new voice for each character. I don't know that I could not get the same effect by reading the books myself but he certainly saves me the trouble and makes the stories enjoyable.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listen to books while driving on my job so I tend to listen in 6 to 7 hour sittings. I could listen longer but after that amount of time I like to digest what I have heard regardless of how good the book is.

Any additional comments?

This story had a good concept and was well presented. I had a hard time listening to it at times because the author tended to go on and on about irrelevant details. I found that at times I ended up hitting the fast forward button and did not miss anything relevant to the story. Also, the author would stop at a crucial point in a battle to examine the details of a character’s emotions and motivations, which, if you had been paying attention you would already understand. Other than these tedious details I enjoyed the story. The narration was well done and that made it easier to get through these ramblings

What did you like best about this story?

I like the introductions of the characters and the understanding of who they are and their motivations. And there is mystery in the Sa'ba Taalor in wondering what is behind their viels and why they keep their faces hidden. And I like the way they are developed as more than brute warriors with the other aspects of their skills.

What about David de Vries’s performance did you like?

Mr. de Vries did an excellent job in voicing the various characters and employing the different accents. The female characters were believeable with his vocal range and he was enjoyable to listen to.

I like the accents that he employs. It makes it easier to keep up with who is speaking in the dialogs and his vocal ranger makes the females believable.

Any additional comments?

This is a very well written and thought out books We begin to see motivations of the Sa'ba Taalor and understand their culture more. It is a very inventive society and religious structure.

What did you like best about this story?

It flowed seamlessly from book two of the series and did not do too much rehashing of the story already told.

What about David DeVries’s performance did you like?

He does voices and accents very well. You can tell where someone is from by the accent and tone.

Any additional comments?

The author starts to get a bit wordy in some of his descriptions or the terran and surroundings. I like to have the descriptions of the area kept short and to the point. In the previous two books he was quite good at the descriptions but in this one he tends to drone on a bit. To the extent that it became almost tedious at some points. Still, all-in-all it is a well written and entertaining book.
