I love this book, it is a straightforward book about a young woman who still wants to be a woman, but wants to be her own kind of woman. She was a tremendous character and I enjoyed her so much. Loving horses all my life I truly understood how much she love them and also why she wanted to make them do what was right so that they had good manners and people would want to be around them. I think it’s one of the truest portrayals of Tough love and Goodcents mixed with humor and life’s pathos that I’ve ever read. It is a wise piece in a world where everyone thinks they have gender identity issues and they are unfortunate. You don’t have to be a homosexual to be a strong woman. You don’t have to be anything to be yourself. To quote a line from an Orphan X novel that says it best, “be yourself, because who else can you be?“. That’s how I see this book. A young woman in a time when women were beginning to really be strong and open about being who they were and not Who everyone else thought they should be. Thank you Miss gloss, the portrayal of the community spirit and the true life way that people live life and interact with each other in the country was phenomenal.

This takes radio drama to a new level. From the adherence to the original story to the truly amazing acting of the audio stars, this is done well. The sound effects and the extended explanations in the script to improve understanding of the visual scenes was outstanding. I have seen some of the other reviews and I disagree with the negatives. If I were going to nit-pick, I'd find the use of the 300+ year old sound for the trackers that detected movement of the aliens in the tunnels to be anachronistic at worst. Thanks Audible for a truly worth-the-price of a credit and more.

As always, Tim Gerard Reynolds and Michael J. Sullivan have done it again. I love these books. The telling of Royce and Hadrian's back story is vital especially if, like me, you read the main saga over and over again. I have been waiting to reread until this story came out, so now onward and upward! Thanks to Michael J and my admiration for his wife who has supported his efforts while self-publishing.

I can't believe that I enjoyed this book as much as I did. Recently, I've been reading a lot of George R. R. Martin, J R. R. Tolkien and Diana Gabaldon. This book surprised with its historical reality and it's love stories that aren't so mushy. These characters are writtne like real people with real faults and yet, unlike Reality TV, it's still the place you can escape. Thanks Ms.Donati for a wonderful read--now, Audible, please get the rest in unabridged?
