Historia
Lauren Russell, her family, and the community of Trout Run Valley had been blessed with a workable blueprint for overcoming nearly insurmountable odds - odds that had been surmounted against them, and others like them, since the blackout, subsequent decline of society, and the world's devolution. The aftermath of the most recent onslaught, a ruthless attack by a menacing enemy, had left them reeling in its wake, leaving a once-sustainable food supply damaged beyond repair and two of their own senselessly murdered.

Boring…
Revisado: 06-29-23
I loved the first two novels. This third novel is extremely boring. It’s filled with entirely too much back story. The constant going back and forth is annoying and most of the time, pointless. It’s too much childish bickering between some of the characters, and a lot of the dialog starts to become tedious. This novel often feels “preachy and political” and quite frankly those parts were nothing but page fillers or the author’s attempt to let you know his political stance. Seriously dude. NO ONE CARES Lol. We just want a good story!!! I’m really surprised this novel got such high reviews. I already have book 4 so I’m hoping it’s better than book 3. If not, I’ll be asking for a refund. C.A. Rudolph seems to be a good writer (for the most part) so I’m hoping book 3 was just a one off.

Revisado: 03-09-23
This novel is simply ok to me. Definitely not as good as the first novel. The narrator mispronounces the most basic words and it’s ridiculous. I noticed this in the first novel but overlooked it because I really enjoyed the first one. Now that I’m not enjoying this novel her many mispronunciations is blatantly obvious. She also sounds a little to old to be the voice of Millie.
The story itself is rather boring. I don’t know how many times we have to hear about Millie and her boyfriend or his lavish apartment or her basic apartment. I was also tired of hearing about how skinny and frail Wendy is. Ok we get it. I highly recommend the first novel. I do not recommend this one.

Rose Winter has enough problems. With a marriage going down the tubes and a dreaded anniversary party on the horizon, the last thing she needs is the zombie apocalypse. She wanted to get drunk and sing karaoke, not murder her undead neighbors. It’s clear the party’s over, however, now Rose has more problems - a missing husband, an overbearing houseguest, and keeping her family alive.

I loved “Until the End of the World” series which is why I chose to listen to “World Departed”. I’ll be honest and admit that this novel seems like it was written for high school kids. It’s extremely boring, slow moving, and a whole bunch of talk about NOTHING. There’s very little zombie action. I definitely will not finish this novel. Such a huge let down. Rose is annoying, her crybaby daughter is UBER annoying, Tom is annoying, and Rose’s adult son is annoying. Yep, most of the characters are annoying. Craig and his crew are likable but it’s not enough to force myself to continue to listen to a novel that’s entirely too long with little to no plot. Glad I didn’t use a credit for this.

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

Deceptive Plot
Revisado: 01-23-23
This story is extremely boring and the description concerning the plot of the story is misleading. The story takes a drastic turn. I have no interest in reading or listening to anything concerning the topic “transgendered” or “homosexuality”. None of this is in the description of the novel. Those topics are highly controversial for some people and important enough to inform people before they make a purchase. Had I known, I would have never purchased this novel. I also did not like the narration. As much as I hate returning audiobooks, this one will definitely be returned. Jodi Picoult novels are becoming more and more of a total let down for me.

Beautifully Written!!
Revisado: 12-28-22
I listened to the audiobook in one day while traveling. It was gut wrenching yet I couldn’t stop listening. My heart ached for the father and for the son. The narrator was actually the author which made me appreciate the novel even more. Oftentimes, authors tend to get negative reviews for narrating their own work but in this case it all came together beautifully. I loved hearing his voice narrating. I don’t know if this is based on a true story or not as I did not do any research. As soon as I finished listening and arrived at my destination, i went to GR and Audible to rate and review. I got the audiobook on sale that happened to appear in an email. I read “Perfect Peace” several years ago which I adored, and realized it was the same author so I bought it hoping that I made a good choice which I did. I highly recommend the audiobook version. I’m now officially a Daniel Black fan:)

Beautiful!!!
Revisado: 12-24-22
I absolutely loved this story. For the most part I stayed engaged and didn’t want to stop listening. One of the narrators (Sirena Riley) was a little annoying. So much so that I skipped over a lot of her narration. Her voice and her tone did not fit with the emotions of the character that she was portraying. While narrating, she sounded as though she was always happy, and always smiling even when her character “Ashley” was sad, hurt, or angry. She had the same annoying sound of “happiness” throughout the whole entire novel. Overall, she is a good narrator. I just did not like her for this particular role. I would have enjoyed the novel more had she been she been replaced with someone else. The other narrator Jordan Frazier portrayed the emotions of her character exceptionally well which made her part of the story much more enjoyable. Her voice and tone were perfect for her role. The story still deserves 5 stars. I can’t wait to listen to more from Suzette D. Harrison.

Very Bizarre
Revisado: 10-03-21
This has to be one of the most bizarre novels that I’ve ever listened to. The fact that people are calling this a beautiful novel is absolutely mind boggling. There is nothing beautiful about this novel other than the narrator’s performance. She is the only reason that I continued listening. This novel is weird, awkwardly written, somewhat confusing, and at times descriptively horrifying. I don’t know, maybe I should have done some research on this one before purchasing. I love historical fiction but this one did not hit the mark for me.

Whitney Houston is as big a superstar as the music business has ever known. She exploded on the scene in 1985 with her debut album and spent the next two decades dominating the charts and capturing the hearts of fans around the world. One person was there by her side through it all - her best friend, Robyn Crawford.

Thank You!!
Revisado: 11-18-19
I wholeheartedly enjoyed this novel. I’ve always wanted to hear Robyn’s story and often wondered if she’d ever decide to tell it. I loved hearing about Robyn’s mother, sister, and brother and could feel the love she has for them. It was beautifully written but also so very heartbreaking. I’m glad Robyn was the narrator. It was blatantly obvious that she had so much love for Whitney. I understood her desire to try to protect Whitney and do what’s best for her. She endured a lot while working for Nippy Inc, and I honestly think she stayed as long as she did because of her feelings for Whitney. She was a good friend to Whitney, and she deeply loved and cared for her. I just wished other family and friends had that same desire to make sure Whitney was healthy and well. It seems like so many people knew she had a problem but no one really knew how to address the issue or they simply didn’t care to address it. Anyone with eyes could see something wasn’t right with Whitney. I clearly remember when I was a child seeing Whitney acting erratically on music award shows and during televised interviews. I didn’t know about the effects of drugs at that time so I really couldn’t grasp what was wrong with her. I was devastated when I heard of her passing and Bobbi Kris’s passing. Thank you for sharing your story with us Robyn. Whitney will always and forever be my number one. Buy the book!! If you’re a Whitney fan then you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve always been a fan of Michelle Obama and after reading her memoir I’m an even bigger fan. Her story, her journey, and her words of wisdom gives me hope. I could listen to her speak every single day. I didn’t want her story to end. I typically don’t read novels or listen to audiobooks more than once but I’ll definitely listen to hers again.
