Historia
President Gwen Iceni and General Artur Drakon have successfully liberated the Midway Star System - but the former rulers of the Syndicate Worlds won’t surrender the region without a fight. The dictatorial regime has ordered the ex–Syndicate CEOs terminated with extreme prejudice and the system’s citizens punished for their defiance.Outnumbered and led by junior officers hastily promoted in the wake of the uprising, Midway’s warships are no match for the fleet massing and preparing to strike.

Too much exposition
Revisado: 12-29-16
I have been listening to this series and by now I am getting tired of the same things repeated over and over, and on top of it, every single emotion is explained in detail and every thought is written out. At this point in the story, we should be able to understand the characters and know why they do the things they do.

One night when he was 10, Tyler stood in his backyard and watched the stars go out. They flared into brilliance, then disappeared, replaced by an empty black barrier. He and his best friends, Jason and Diane Lawton, had seen what became known as the Big Blackout. It would shape their lives.

Sci-Fi with Depth
Revisado: 06-12-08
I found that the characters had real depth, and were not abstract. The "science" was plausible and didn't get in the way of the story telling. Unlike some other comments, I didn't guess the end only half way through the book. The author's style of telling many stories at once keeps you interested.

As good as the first
Revisado: 06-12-08
I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed the first book. If you haven't read the first, go back and read it, otherwise you will be lost. The characters are back and we get to see more of their story and how everything is going to turn out. I found myself hooked on each chapter!

The "true story" behind Alice in Wonderland! Great story telling!
Revisado: 06-12-08
I loved how the author could start with a simple story (Allison in Wonderland) and build a whole new universe and back-story about it. This was well thought out, and the writing well done.

Cheesy Sci-Fi
Revisado: 06-12-08
This was a fun "fluff" book, and the sci-fi was on the level of star trek "techno bable". I found that part very disappointing. It seemed as if the author was just making up science to fit his plot, rather than creating a new universe with real rules and laws. Towards the end, it was predictable. If you treat it like an action movie, where you can suspend belief, than you may have fun.

Historia
There are tales of Middle-earth from times long before The Lord of the Rings. The story told in this book is set in the great country that lay beyond the Grey Havens in the West: lands where Treebeard once walked, but which were drowned in the great cataclysm that ended the First Age of the World.

For true fans only
Revisado: 06-12-08
A great book, but only for loyal fans, people who have been able to stomach the Silmarillion. It was very much in the style of all the LOTR books.
