After book 2 it's bad
Revisado: 11-09-24
the book gets crazy repetitive. you can skip 90% of the book because it's the exact same thing. battling monster wave in a different way, even the scene doesn't change.
the author must have really gotten bored towards the end because he just made up a quick and easy way to end the book. there were a few plot points in earlier books that were just useless to the story so probably should just be edited out at this point. overall, the author kept it going for me but I wish I had just gone from book 2 to the last half of book 5.

Historia
Despite his victory against the Guild, Kers soon learns that there is now an even greater target upon his cloudy back. Typical. Then there’s the small matter of Marwan, the Dark Lord who wants to take over the world, and the Jade Citadel sortie that is on the verge of collapsing. Not to mention the fact that he now has to ‘get along’ with his neighboring core and deal with a mysterious orca-like monster that has started flying nearby…

One of the worst LitRPGs I've heard
Revisado: 10-25-24
After listening to the first one, the premise wasn't bad. I don't fault writers for juvenile writing because writing can be difficult. Writing a whole book, definitely difficult! However, this second book was absolutely horrible.
The author seems to not understand logical interaction with his own characters and world. It's kind of like every character is set at an intellect level that is a fourth of normal. They make obviously stupid choices, and I don't mean bad choices, I mean literally stupid people choices. It's like when you watch the movie Blades of Glory, You expect it to be dumb comedy and that's hilarious. However, a 13-hour listen of that is horrible. The main character is definitely not likable. He had human traits in the first book and then in the second book, he somehow gained the attitude, emotions, and decision making of a 14-year-old going through puberty.
The constant use of isakai is ridiculous. it had the potential to be a plot device, but now the author just uses it as attempt at humor constantly. Whenever it is mentioned, it has no merit to the story or the plot. It's just a random sentence thrown in to dialogue.
Vex, is somehow the only person (monster) who doesn't speak English but only at certain times. whenever he's going to do something that might have merit, he suddenly screaming in "dungeon language" but anywhere else in the book he speaks English.
Lastly, this book is like the battle scene in the dragon Ball z series. it's over 30 chapters of one battle. The pacing is ridiculously slow and then the villain, again, shows no rationale or intelligence for his decision making. ' I'm trying to smash you from inside of you but I'm going to take a couple of hours to step in this labyrinth because you asked me to. I'm sure I can beat your boss since nobody else can and I'm good enough for it. I'll put all my plans on hold because this is the middle of a war and give you a chance to trap me in a labyrinth.' That decision really really put me off to this book and series.
Oh, and the conclusion was the stupidest ending ever. After everything that's happened, there was a secret double agent who wasn't really a double agent. Then she tricked the dark lord by using her feminine whiles against him. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Great book, great story, great series, but...
Revisado: 10-13-24
You can tell the author is getting tired of his story and is ready to wrap it up. His story telling is so compelling and I don't think he intended to originally go as slow with this series as he had been. However, I think it's about to all come to the end in a 12th book. He could also end it here and it wouldn't be a cliff hanger, instead it would be the reason ever other "Welcome to the System" litRPG exists which I think it's probably an even greater ending.

A struggle to get through
Revisado: 09-26-24
Nothing particularly different about this lit RPG. Lit RPGs are good when you just want to veg out while you listen. It's okay if they're not that different. However, The writer of this story doesn't seem to understand how people naturally react to things. There's a lot of dialogue where no sane person would respond like that. You get the impression that the writer was thinking about how he wanted the characters to react without setting up the scene for them to actually respond that way.

plagiarism anyone?
Revisado: 09-06-24
The story isn't bad, I enjoyed it but nothing revolutionary. However, I did have to check twice that it wasn't the same author as He Who Fights With Monsters. I mean, it's a straight up rehash of the elements in that story. The MC is Asian descent but English raised, the magic system and skill system is nearly identical, the MC gets almost identical abilities (afflictions, cleansing afflictions for power ups, phantom that's also a dark cloak), they even foreshadowed that the God of Peace (God of Purity in HWFWM) was going to be a main villain. Can't you get sued for this?

they've been running and just running into the same people and doing the same thing. then you're frustrated because when they could get rid or kill the people doing the same evil deeds, they ignore them, then they do the same thing. it's a bit too frustrating to finish. I doubt I'll read the rest.

Two men haunted by the same ghost...Falling for "the other man" in my marriage was never part of the plan. Then again, according to Nicolae Ursache, I am the other man, and human wedding vows don't apply. Not to werewolves. Nicolae is a smug, arrogant alpha male stereotype - and I do mean alpha in the literal sense - but when the same people who killed my wife kidnap my teenage daughter, he's my only chance at getting her back. The fact that Nicolae was my wife's rightful mate means that we share a mutual interest in bringing Ellie home.

amazing author
Revisado: 03-08-24
honestly, one of the most interesting fantasy romance books I've ever read. It's got everything you want in a good book. It's got a driven plot and the characters evolve like you would expect. of course, the destined mate thing does make things go a lot faster than normal, but you expect that. It's also got several twists you might not completely expect and I really appreciate the author just putting them in there.

Main character is a cry baby
Revisado: 03-07-24
The story starts out pretty good, but the main characters personality development gets worse over time. The main character has this entire backstory about him being a strong, independent individual and then to cry at the drop of a hat every chapter. then, every other character and love interest has to constantly tried to restore his confidence , give him hugs, wipe his eyes while he's crying. The main character becomes a crying brat (I wanted to use another b word but I don't think I should in the review.) The author writes the main character in a devolving personality. He gets worse as a person and by the end of the book, I understood why nobody in the real world ever wanted to talk to him because I hope to God I never meet somebody so completely dependent on another person that they can't function.

good story
Revisado: 02-21-24
I think it well written and very enjoyable. it can be slow at times and there are quite a few plot points that were dropped but you can tell it's because it was written chapter by chapter instead of book by book. overall it's a good read. I'll get to book 5 when the next box set comes out if it ever does. nothing too original compared to other litrpgs

Historia
When life dragged me down, I assumed I’d never get back up. I never guessed that Andras—the dark magic user I was always told to fear—would not only give me a helping hand, but draw me into his arms and protect me from those who wished to harm me. I never imagined that Andras and his “danger noodle” would be there to make me laugh, to care about me, and show me what it means to be loved. But now, the two of us have to prove to the Casters that we won’t be knocked down.
