Historia
In 1973, Norma Cobb, her husband Lester, and their five children pulled up stakes in the lower 48 and headed north to Alaska to follow a pioneer dream of claiming land under the Homestead Act. The only land available lay north of Fairbanks near the Arctic Circle where grizzlies outnumbered humans 20 to one. In addition to fierce winters and predatory animals, the Alaskan frontier drew the more unsavory elements of society's fringes. From the beginning, the Cobbs found themselves pitted in a life or death feud with unscrupulous neighbors who would rob from new settlers.

An excellent read for somebody who has spent a couple of years in the area.

Excellent audiobook to listen to while you’re on a boring drive. Due to the fact that I was stationed at Fort Waynewright and pretty much had driven the entire road system, including a trek up to Manley Hot Springs on roads that don’t appear to have been improved since Tubulcane walk the Earth, and was therefore somewhat familiar with the physical territory, they were operating in which when I first experienced it in the early 2000s was probably a lot superior to the way they found it in the early 70s., added to my enjoyment of the book immensely. An excellent story, a great way for kids to grow up even when you count for the grease fires, gunshot wounds and bear attack. Not to mention a few Bigfoot sightings. The critique I have of the author is that I think she’s a little too hard on modern American men, not that she’s wrong, but you do understand you’re married to a superhuman dude right.

Historia
In his best-selling autobiography, Albert Speer, Minister of Armaments and chief architect of Nazi Germany, repeatedly insisted he knew nothing of the genocidal crimes of Hitler's Third Reich. In this revealing new biography, author Martin Kitchen disputes Speer's lifelong assertions of ignorance and innocence, portraying a far darker figure who was deeply implicated in the appalling crimes committed by the regime he served so well. Kitchen reconstructs Speer's life with what we now know, including information from valuable new sources that have come to light only in recent years.

Trash biography with an ideological agenda.
Revisado: 03-26-25
Well written in a fine British style. Your could get everything here including the negative view of Speer himself from Albert Speer’s own work. This guy pretends to have the ability to read minds, bad move for someone that wants to be taken seriously as an historian. Book could have conveyed its point with a third of the pages.

Historia
The rise and fall of the British Empire; the emergence of America as a superpower; the ebb and flow of global challenges from Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, and Soviet Russia. These are the headlines of history, but they cannot be properly grasped without understanding the role that population has played. The Human Tide shows how periods of rapid population transition - a phenomenon that first emerged in the British Isles but gradually spread across the globe - shaped the course of world history.

Well informed and well written. Some quotations were out of context.
Liberals biased

Anti-American working class bias (He ids with WEF and the managers elite.)
Call working class political active whites, and presumably the young blacks and Hispanics that voted for Trump racist.
White washes Israeli bad behavior (He is an ethnicity supremicist for one group while hypocritical in his bias against other groups doing the same thing.(I think Israel belongs to the Israeli’s by the way and am not a Palestinian Arab sympathizer.

This Very Short Introduction considers the way in which the global population has evolved over time and space. Sarah Harper discusses the theorists, theories, and methods involved in studying population trends and movements.

Even at the time it was written, it was outdated.
Revisado: 02-06-25
Written in 2011, or at least recorded them according to the info on the audiobook, it is not only outdated but extremely biased. It will talk about certain views on certain subjects without giving the countervailing views even though those views have been gaining ground and the view that she is pushing, mostly regarding the limited resources of the earth to feed the population are not only mathematically sound but have been disproven time and time again as technology carrying capacity for man time and time again decade after decade. One needs only to look to the continued growth of rice yields and the yields of other agricultural products to see that her argument stands on shifting sand. She seems to not understand that we throw away half of the food that we produce currently either. people starve in the world today for political reasons because of genocidal governments, wanting to kill off ethnic groups, so their ethnic group can take over the land in places such as Africa. No one is starving for lack of agricultural productivity on the planet. She makes the earth sound like, a supermarket that’s not getting any more deliveries. She doesn’t take into consideration that the Earth might be fine. We do not know it’s upper caring capacity limits nor is the earth the closed system. Our food grows using energy from the sun, which comes from outside. Very liberal bias everywhere. We are in a depopulation crisis and she is talking about the weird musings of ideologues from the 1960s the silence spring kind of stuff still. Very outdated.

The books of the Bible were written at different times by different authors over a period of approximately 1,500 years from around 1400 BC through 90 AD. The Old Testament was written in Biblical Hebrew, excluding the books written during "the Chaldean captivity" such as Daniel and Ezra which were written in "Biblical Aramaic" during the "Chaldean captivity". Revisado: 01-28-24
Very well researched and acceptably written. A very informative book. If you are historically well read and have a good understanding of current events going back 100l years this book will make all sorts of connections which were hidden in plain sight. This book is definitely worth both read ing. You have my recommendation, and when I have some time I will check out the volume 2.

Are used to listen to the Alexander Scourby Bible back in the early 2000s when I was riding around Alaska in my 1990 Ford bronco two. I had never read the Bible before that, and I get to read the book of Joshua under 24 hours of sun. Love listening to the psalms while I drive. Love, Alexander Scourby’s pronunciation of everything, its excellent couldn’t ask for more.

Good read
Revisado: 01-27-23
A good introduction to the field for a high school or college student. I am going to have my kid listen to it. The author is very articulate, and has a classical education which makes the reading, enjoyable, voiceover artist, has a slightly dull British accent, which is quite enjoyable to listen to. It gives a broad view of terms that are used in the field and concepts. As well as theoretical hypothesis, as to why such phenomenon is going on, and on occasion, contrary theory and hypothesis, and he named the names of the different “experts” and the positions they hold, which is great for reference. He doesn’t shy away from pointing out that a lot of people within the field, hold cultic beliefs, which I turn off to less fanatical, well grounded people. Overall, I’d give it five stars, five stars and five stars which I really do.

This first volume covers our heritage, our links to England, how the colonies grew, the mighty force of religion in early America, and the oppression felt by the colonists. It describes why our ancestors fought for their beliefs, and their efforts to create a government limited in scope by checks and balances so that it would not have the power to oppress the people.
