Okay, I really was desperate to find an academy RH. This was one of the worst (and last) I came across. First, you NEED to know that the narrator sounds like a toddler. It’s really, very bad. The worst I’ve ever heard. Second, the British accent is one for the books, it’s so horrific. Third, the editing is irritating, at best. Fourth, the protagonist is puffed up in her self esteem, cocky but doesn’t come with it. Everything was just watered down and left lacking. I’m so disappointed.

First, she sounds 15, okay weird but maybe I can work around it, I’ve been here since the beginning...2nd words like nipple come out sounding more like nnniPPle, as though pronounced with a long hard ‘N’. Weird-er. STILL want to like it but...ugh!

Narrator did the best with what she was given but, I’m afraid it just wasn’t enough. Lucia Ashta just missed the mark on this one. The protagonist lacks gumption when it matters. At the age of 18 she seems to have the emotional intelligence of a 15 year old girl. The male characters are likewise lacking strength and focus. Couldn’t get past the 9th chapter. I’m afraid it was just not bold enough for the genre...

Well written and well read! I was hesitant about starting the trilogy much less the first book but it’s opened my mind and that’s always a great thing. I could have done with out some of the more explicit details but that was really my only hang up and that’s my shit, and has no bearing on the writing whatsoever. Take a chance and try to keep your mind open. Happy reading!
