Historia
Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Historia
Rosemary Harper doesn't expect much when she joins the crew of the aging Wayfarer. While the patched-up ship has seen better days, it offers her a bed, a chance to explore the far-off corners of the galaxy, and, most importantly, some distance from her past. An introspective young woman, she's never met anyone remotely like the ship's diverse crew, including Sissix, the exotic reptilian pilot; chatty engineers Kizzy and Jenks, who keep the ship running; and Ashby, their noble captain.

One of the best I listened to in a while
Revisado: 02-28-17
Where does The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
in the top 20 out of about 300 or so. Not all from audible. It's a sleeper!
What did you like best about this story?
The depth of the characters. There are very few one dimensional characters. For a relatively short book with many important characters it really show how a gifted author doesn't need 1200 pages to provide depth and real life, and believable emotions.
Which character – as performed by Rachel Dulude – was your favorite?
Probably Lovey although she got the least amount of words for a major character. However, I believe the sequel, which I have just started, is more or less about her.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were quite a few actually. I really recommend this book.
Any additional comments?
This is not a heavy action book. although it is not without some action. The conflict is more interpersonal, but there are definitely life threatening moments that are dealt with in a believable and exciting manner. The variety of species and genders may offend the easily offendable, but it really shouldn't. It explores these issues in a very natural way that makes sense for the universe. There is no "preachy-ness" at all to this story, it is just a really great book.

A little derivitive, but an enjoyable book
Revisado: 02-28-17
What made the experience of listening to Enchantress the most enjoyable?
The narrator made the characters come to life. The best narrators make you forget you are listening to them. He did that. The story was standard kids with unknown parentage and budding ablities grow up and save the world, even so, it was well written and creative.

Historia
M is a magician of modest wit, dim ability, and few scruples, who would prefer to spend his easy immortality drinking artisanal beer and making eyes at smiling women. Alas, in the infinite nexus of the universe that is New York City, equilibrium is no easy thing to maintain. Canal pirates, drug-induced divinities, pocket steam-punk universes, hipster zombies, ex-girlfriends, and the devil are all taken in easy stride.

creative, orignal, fantastic story
Revisado: 02-28-17
What made the experience of listening to A City Dreaming the most enjoyable?
It was a little nonlinear, but once I got into the rythm of the story I found it to be fantastic. It is truly an original. Really loved this one.
What about Eric Meyers’s performance did you like?
He captured the characters and tension well without sounding campy.

Historia
Sinclair Rutherford is a young Seattle cop with a taste for the finer things. Doing menial tasks and getting hassled by superiors he doesn't respect are definitely not "finer things". Good police work and bad luck lead him to crack a case that changes quickly from a career-making break into a high-profile humiliation when footage of his pursuit of the suspect - wildly inappropriate murder weapon in hand - becomes an Internet sensation.

Surprisingly awesome!
Revisado: 05-19-16
Humorous but not distractingly so. I think the author has gotten much more mature and confident in his writing- it really shows. Likable characters, mostly consistent, and well thought out. They talk like real people. A great start to what I hope is a prolific series, written at light speed! Moorrre!! I need Mooore!!! Oh and Luke Daniels' narration is, like always, top notch.

Characters are likable (or hateable), a unique take on alternate universes and dragons. Narration is very good. Very much enjoyed the book, although I wish it were longer!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Hard sci-ifi at its absolute best!
Revisado: 03-11-15
Highly recommended. I can't remember the last time I read hard SF this well written and downright fun. The can do optimism harks to an earlier era, one I remember fondly as a kid watching the Apollo missions. Some may find the detailed descriptions of technical workings tiresome but it's right up my alley. Granted I am a systems engineer so it's like mainlining engineer nerd crack, but if you like that sort of thing this is the book for you.
I can't imagine a better choice of narrator.
