Love Murakami - Struggled with this Narrator

He never fails his readers
Revisado: 11-22-22
I have read AND listened to all Haruki Muakami’s books at least twice and they have all given me great joy and pleasure. Of course I have my favorites but that is for a longer conversation. It was fascinating to find out his process and thoughts behind his writings. Much I found very similar to the process of making sculptures.
I think anyone who is interested in literature or Mr Murakami’s literature or just writing in general -well this book is for you!!
You must excuse me - as I say when I lecture about my own work - English is not my first language- art is!!

Historia
Lynne Tillman became one of nearly 53 million Americans who care for a sick family member when her mother developed an unusual and little understood condition called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. Instantly, Tillman's independent and spirited mother went from someone she knew to someone else, a woman entirely dependent on her children. Mothercare is both a cautionary tale and sympathetic guidance for anyone who suddenly becomes a caregiver, responsible for the life of another—a parent, loved or not, or a friend.

Beautiful writing
Revisado: 08-12-22
Lynne Tillman captures so many emotions with her beautiful writing. I felt joy, sadness, and sometimes even horror, so vividly while listening to this book. It was as if I was with her on her powerful journey of caring for a parent. Anyone who has had a similar experience will see their feelings articulated in her work. Lynne Tillman is on of the most important writers of our time, and deserves even more recognition and exposure. I wish all of her work was available on Audible!

So upsetting - because it had such potential
Revisado: 08-16-20
This is heartbreaking to read because one knows by the end of the first chapter it is written by Meg. And that might necessarily not be a bad thing, in fact it could be great, but it is not. It is sugar coated like a fairy tale through their initial love story. And from there Saint Meg never puts a foot wrong. It is rather sad to read. We all make mistakes, this is human, and to admit our wrongs makes everyone love us all the more! But the only people that make mistakes in this book are the people that surround Meg and Harry. Especially Prince William and their sister-in-law Kate.
I could go on but I rather have you read it for yourself and make up your own minds. That is always the best way to my thinking! I hope your opinion is more favorable then mine.
They had such a great opportunity here and could have written something really honest and very truthful. Something that would have moved the world. More like Michelle Obama’s terrific book!
Maybe their next book will come closer to the mark?

Excellent -A must read!
Revisado: 04-18-20
This is a must read for any young artist, or anyone who is curious about art, any collector or person who has thought they might like to be an artist -who knows you might just be the next great Picasso!
This whole book rang really true. Wish I had had such a book when starting out in NY in the late seventies. In a very interesting way it reminded me a great deal of Rainer Maria Rilke’s book “Letters to a Young Poet”. And I thought what a great gift to give these two books to any artist just beginning a serious life in arts.

Revisado: 08-07-16
Life is short - this book is too long!
Although very interesting, this book needs a good editor!! The facts were repeated twice or sometimes three times. And then again in the epilogue!
