Historia
Fourteen-year-old Linda lives with her parents in the beautiful, austere woods of Northern Minnesota, where their nearly abandoned commune stands as a last vestige of a lost counterculture world. Isolated at home and an outlander at school, Linda is drawn to the enigmatic, attractive Lily and new history teacher Mr. Grierson. When Mr. Grierson is charged with possessing child pornography, the implications of his arrest deeply affect Linda as she wrestles with her own fledgling desires and craving to belong.

Well described ramblings
Revisado: 01-27-24
I liked how discriptive this book was written (except for the wholly unnecessary explicit bits... oh yeah the entire thing was unnecessary) and it was well performed. However, there wasn't really a story here. It read like the scattered memoir of a neglegent, self centered spiteful teenager who has issues with her parents. I felt like I was hearing the thoughts of a kid that's been emotionally blunted by SSRIs since toddlerhood. I've never taken them, but after wasting my time & a credit listening to this, I think I need Prozac. I wish people would work out their depression and sense of life having no meaning by working on themselves before regurgitating everything that sucks in a tome that lays a shroud over readers.

Come to California, the invitation beckons, and write with a machine.

I liked the thought provoking language and concept of this well performed story. It was worth the credit. As an aging writer and artist myself, I related to the protagonist.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Touching story about relationships
Revisado: 07-03-23
This is the first time I could get through such a technically detailed book, thanks to the reader friendly writing and amazing performance. Thank you. Anyone criticizing the reader could not do a better job. I was immersed and very moved by this story. I laughed and cried.

I was inspired, characters alive...until this
Revisado: 06-02-23
This book is on the extreme end of technical formula for generic story structure. It seems like a good option for training AIs to write fiction. There is advice for what should happen exactly at the 37% point of the story. I was on fire with characters coming alive in my imagination and excited to write their story. This book's approach extinguished my light. Send help, please! What title can help me without destroying the passion behind the story?!

As Lovelace learns to negotiate the universe and discover who she is, she makes friends with Pepper, an excitable engineer, who’s determined to help her learn and grow. Together, Pepper and Lovey will discover that no matter how vast space is, two people can fill it together.

Engaging story, interesting plot, well performed.
Revisado: 05-28-23
Bard recommended this book to me as an example of AI - human relations. I enjoyed listening to it. The experience described by one of the characters of not identifying with one's body or of identity being separate from one's body bled into my life while I was immersed in the story for an interesting, surreal effect.

Historia
Cornelius Christopher courageously opens up his life to the world to show how we urgently need to change the way we treat one another and ourselves. The depth with which he shares unspeakable accounts on how society creates an abused child who later becomes a suicidal adult is beyond imaginable, beyond words, beyond anything you have ever listened to. The story begins the moment Cornelius experiences what physicists call a "quantum superposition", during which he is forced to watch his funeral and the heart-wrenching scene of his wife finding him dying from his future suicide.

Kudos to reader for getting through this muck
Revisado: 02-13-23
F-bombs most every sentence, often more than once a sentence, make this miserable victim whine an overlong implication of all the folks who ever wronged the author. I became interested in this author @ an interview I heard with him where he claimed to offer group meditations for free. @ his website it turns out that is a lie. His gifts are apparently a walk-in that happened when he decided to end his life. Unfortunately it was not a full walk-in. Find your answers within. No guru needed. Trashy mouth is not entertaining or enlightening. If I was tempted to look deeper and get the perspective of this author (or whatever inhabits his being now), listening to two thirds of this book changed my mind completely. This is what people are talking about when they say they cannot get this time back. Waste of a credit. Not recommended.

Historia
When Runnel leaves his mountain valley to head for the great city of the water mages, he has no idea of his own magical talents. But he soon finds that without meaning to, he complicates and then endangers the lives of everyone he comes to know and care about. For when it comes to magic, there are rules and laws, and the untrained mage-to-be must be careful not to tap into deep forces and ancient enmities. Otherwise, other people might end up paying the price for his mistakes.

Story had a grounding effect
Revisado: 02-11-23
This was an entertaining story. I got chills when the mages in the stones spoke to Rivulet. I am not too bothered by the tendency for Card to incorporate into his work the nakedness of an adolescent boy or include descriptions of male urination (rarely needed for plot). Compared to Robert Louis Stevenson, Card's homoeroticism is miniscule and most people take Stevenson's with a grain of salt, so, whatever! Fine performance (not too much or too little drama). I rarely thought of the reader at all (a good thing!) Thank you for this book.

Expertly read mediocre writing
Revisado: 01-18-23
Only the dog character kept my interest to the end. Also, I liked how the "outsider" was given some depth in the end. I knocked off a star out of dislike for misogyny and another, perhaps unfairly, because I do not want to hear long descriptions of a lust for the joy of killing with numerous detailed, pointless examples. I felt like this story romanticized murder a lot. I do not know why it would make any top lists of great books. I agree with the author in his afterward about leaving the reading to the voice actors. But there is no need to publicly insult audio advisor. That is a petty let down plugged into the end of the recording. I left a star on because the author pointed out the underlying themes of the story. Thanks, I might not have realized them otherwise. (eyeroll)

a simulated environment has real emotional meaning in relationship. Emotionally developed characters kept me interested.
It could have done without the casual & completely unnecessary references to using cocaine.
