Greater than goals. More powerful than habits. Discover your streaks! Most of us have a vision for ourselves and who we want to be. But, amid the busyness of our days and all the competing demands, we often fall short of our hopes for ourselves. How could we possibly fit in another activity to become the person we’ve always dreamed we could be? In this practical, step-by-step guide, authors Jeffery Downs and Jami Downs show you how, by introducing the art of streaking (not that kind!) to gain mastery in whatever area you choose to improve.

A powerful way to start new behaviors and require your routines
Revisado: 11-04-23
I came into this already knowing the power of streaks. I’m 3400 days in to consistent journal writing, and have used many of these tools as well as habit forming methodologies to adopt and build on new habits.
Great reminders about the power of starting something new. The author also references Charles Duhigg’s, the power of habit, which would be a great companion read.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

And you’ll know the $100M Offers method worked when you start hearing, “What do I need to do to move forward?” before you even ask for the sale.

This is very good. I was stuck with a few old mindsets around pricing and such, and love how he breaks down the logic for pricing and offer creation. Well worth the read, especially if you’re selling to a broad market with low priced offers.

Historia
Tony Hsieh—CEO of Zappos, Las Vegas developer, and beloved entrepreneur—was famous for spreading happiness. He promoted a workplace where bosses treated employees like family members, where stress was replaced by playfulness, and where hierarchies were replaced with equality and collaboration. Happy at Any Cost sheds light on one of our most creative yet vulnerable business leaders. It’s about our intense need to find “happiness” at all costs, our misguided worship of entrepreneurs, the stigmas surrounding mental health, and how fame can mask deeper problems.

A powerful, moving memoir - and a practical guide to healing - written by Dr. Edith Eva Eger, an eminent psychologist whose own experiences as a Holocaust survivor help her treat patients and allow them to escape the prisons of their own minds. The Choice weaves Eger's personal story with case studies from her work as a psychologist. Her patients and their stories illustrate different phases of healing and show how people can choose to escape the prisons they construct in their minds and find freedom, regardless of circumstance.

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

I’ve got over 300 self help titles in my library, Since this book didn’t have many reviews I didn’t quite know what to expect. I’m very interested in learning new things, and achieving a quick base level of skill in many different areas. On my own, I’ve learned a couple languages, and a basic proficiency at the piano, and a few sports, I enjoy being the jack of all trades.
I really enjoyed this book, and many of the tips, especially about not going too gung ho in the beginning were very insightful. There were several insight I received here, that I haven’t read from other books. I definitely recommend the read, it’s a quick one.
