This was much better written than The Playground, in my opinion. I was invested from the first minute- the narrator’s performance was perfect. Highly recommend this book if you enjoy extreme horror and have a strong stomach (and are not easily offended).

Loving and Empowering

I just finished Worthy and I’m listening to it again! It really feels like Jamie Kern Lima is telling her story directly to me, and I can tell how passionate she is about her message. The content did get a little god/jesus heavy at times (chapter 21), but if that’s not your thing either, please don’t let it deter you! This is such a worthwhile read for every girl, woman and person who wants to feel more in alignment with their assignment in life 🩷

Poor narration

Jon Athan is my favorite extreme horror author. This narrator is the worst narrator I’ve heard yet on audible. It honestly sounds like it’s performed by AI, the inflection is so strange and stilted. It’s so distracting, it’s difficult for me to comprehend what I’m listening to.

Hands-down the best audiobook narration I’ve heard!! Jon Athan comes through with well-written scenes of body horror that left my mouth agape. This is a weird, uncomfortable and gory book 🖤

Very well written

An extreme horror book that doesn’t feel like it’s just for shock value! Each character feels lived in and I actually cared about each of their fate. Dark, gorey and surprisingly heartfelt. Also, the narrator did a great job bringing these characters to life.

Poor narration

The narrator kept taking me out of the story. His cadence was distracting and I felt the voices he gave to the characters were too similar and often seemed whiny. Jon Athan is my favorite extreme horror author, but I enjoyed this book the least out of all I’ve read/listened to.

Triana does it again!

The main character in And the Devil Cried is abhorrent and I found myself sucked into the story, mouth agape, dying to see what happened next. If you like Full Brutal, definitely give AtDC a read.

Brutal, well written and immersive

I’ve found my author for extreme horror (splatterpunk?)!!!
I’m a horror movie fanatic and I’ve lately felt like I’ve run out of good and graphic ones that actually scare me. I decided to branch out into horror books and this was my first one. I love this author!! I’m also a fan of nihilistic endings and this one delivered. I can’t wait to check out more from Kristopher Triana.

Love the office ladies!

If you like The Office or the podcast The Office Ladies, you will absolutely LOVE this book. You can feel their friendship throughout the book and it gives you the warm fuzzies. This book also gives you fun insight into the show’s production. 10/10 would recommend.
