Some women just have it - that combination of stunning looks and sexual confidence that brings men to their knees. Not me. My last boyfriend once fell asleep while we were...you know. Not my proudest moment. And my crush on my hot, arrogant, and oh-so-unattainable CEO? Never going to happen. But one night, after too much wine, I find myself online, creating a profile for a sex kitten called SweetVixen. Safe behind my computer screen, I'm suddenly the seductive goddess of my wildest imagination.

Spicy but sweet
Revisado: 07-16-24
Spoilers ahead!
There were a few things that I didn’t enjoy about this book. The domineering male was a bit much. He started off aggressively a-holish and demanding, he basically touched her without actual consent immediately upon meeting her and even suggested giving her a raise in return for sexual favors. That’s pretty much the definition of coercion and sexual harassment. I didn’t like him much and he didn’t get much better through the store even though she kept talking about how sweet he is.
The hesitant, not very experienced female with lots of fantasies who got brazen quickly was a bit unbelievable and trite but, at times, was a little fun.
I think my biggest issue was that he had no respect for her thoughts on business matters, except at the end, and only seemed to care about her body and what it could do for him. Even when he missed her after the drama that occurs he mostly thinks about her sexually and thinks nothing of her personality or intelligence or anything else.
Then, he acts like he did something revolutionary by creating a picnic table that is wheelchair accessible and expects that to make her forgive him for breaking her heart?! And she does! Immediately. He barely even apologized. Oh, I forgot, his apology is that he tells her a few secrets and then all is right with the world.
At least the spicy scenes were spicing nicely enough. There wasn’t anything I hadn’t read before but the descriptions were nice.
I’ll listen to the next book and hope it redeems the series.

So good but so sad

I just want to sob. I won’t say why because I don’t want to spoil anything.
I am really enjoying the book. I do get a little tired of hearing about her eyes, but do not get tired of the characters.
I love the writing. It is such an easy read. I flew through this first part alternating between reading the ebook and listening to the audiobook.
I’m going to immediately start the second part. Let’s see if it makes me want to sob also!

The narration was perfection, the story was fun and entertaining, the ending was exactly what I needed. I cannot find anything wrong with this one except I wish it wasn’t over already! Loved the main characters so much!

Good murder mystery
Revisado: 05-01-24
This was a solid four star thriller. There were a couple twists and a nice red herring or two thrown in. I figured out half of it but not all of it. It kept me engaged and listening eagerly to see whodunnit.
I liked most of the characters in this book. They were pretty much believable and I could understand their actions and reactions. I found one or two characters to be annoying and really enjoyed q couple of the side characters.
One of my favorite characters was the murderer. Not in the “I like this person and want him to get away with his crimes” type of way. I just really enjoyed the point of view of the killer. It made the scenes more intense and impactful. I found myself interested in what was motivating the character and also eager to see how this person would finally get caught.
I feel that anyone that enjoys murder mysteries and police procedural series will enjoy this book. I look forward to the next one in the series!

Historia
When Rachel Russel first saw her home town, a huge sigh of relief was the only thing she could feel. After all those horrible days and nights in Antarctica, Rachel was glad to finally see her home, room, and loved ones. When Rachel’s pastor asked her to take part in the Women’s Prison Missionary Program, she immediately said “yes”. It was a great opportunity to come close to God again and let all her troubles behind her by helping other women find the path of Jesus. But as she was getting ready to ask her pastor a few questions, she heard a gunshot on the other end of the phone that made the blood freeze in her veins.

I give up
Revisado: 04-30-24
Wanted to give the series another chance. I am done trying after this one. It is again quite juvenile feeling. The writing is just okay and it feels a bit stilted when the characters speak.
I grew up on books like the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, so actually enjoy juvenile mysteries. I also have read plenty of Christian suspense and romance books so have no issues with religion in books.
This series is a just bit too much of both religious and juvenile for me though. It comes off a little preachy. There is a clear delineation between the ‘good’, pleasant looking Christian characters and the not so ‘good’ or even ‘bad’, less pleasant looking, non-Christian characters. There is very little room for neutral characters.

Very juvenile
Revisado: 04-30-24
It felt like something written for kids. It was a quick read with not enough there to really build a mystery. It felt like it was written mostly to show how religious the FMC is and how this religion can help her solve crimes with very little clues or information.

It is a sequel!
Revisado: 04-13-24
I have decided that I am a fan of Lucinda Berry. This is my second time listening to one of her short stories and I have loved them both!
In this story I wasn’t sure exactly where it was heading. I was wondering if this was going to be a case of an unreliable narrator or if there was going to be a huge reveal or surprise twist.
What we get is a tale of manipulation and deceit, a story of a sociopathic child and the damage she wreaks on those around her. And we get the lengths people will go to protect their loved ones.
What I enjoy about short thrillers is that I don’t have the time to overthink everything. I was basically along for the ride and didn’t see all the twists or surprises that were heading my way.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys a thriller that is pretty quick paced and is full of emotion. I didn’t know this was a sequel to one of her other books when I went into it, do be aware of this do it doesn’t spoil a book for you as it did me. Also, check for trigger warnings.

A really quick, but good, whodunnit
Revisado: 04-05-24
I find it difficult to rate short stories. There is often just not enough to get a true feel for characters or the stories often seem too abrupt or disjointed.
I did not feel that with this one. I enjoyed the characters, the storyline, and felt like it gave me everything I could ask for in a story.
When a murder occurs during an intergalactic voyage, a crew member takes it upon herself to investigate. She is determined to find out the truth and follows any lead she can find, ether it points to fellow crew members or the rich passengers aboard the vessel.
While there were no big surprises, I felt like the story was well written and kept my interest easily. There were plenty of characters that look suspicious, interesting leads for the crew member to follow, and a good wrap-up of the story.
I’d recommend this to anyone that enjoys a quick whodunnit with both a setting and characters that can keep you engaged. I really enjoyed it and feel that it deserves a five star rating, which I don’t often give to short stories.

Laugh out loud funny
Revisado: 02-04-24
I really enjoyed this story even though it gave my claustrophobic self a bit of anxiety listening to it. The main character was funny and obvious really strong to be able to endure and even laugh through the situation she found herself in. I enjoyed the banter and thought it was really cute. It made me laugh out loud several times.

Cute but not enough
Revisado: 02-04-24
I enjoyed the narration, the story was cute, and the characters fun. There just wasn’t enough to make it to a four or five star rating. I feel like this could’ve been better with just a few more chapters. But that’s just me. I like more of a happily ever after ending and this had a more ambiguous ending, though it hints at a HEA.
